I won't let you stop the ride, gramps! If the ride stops, then the zombies come back, and that won't be any fun at all!
~ Adam, telling Frank he won't let him turn the space rider off as it will bring the zombies back if he does so.

Adam MacIntyre is a minor antagonist in Dead Rising. He is a psychotic clown who has lost his mind after seeing his audience be eaten alive in front of him, so in order to prevent anymore deaths, he decided to kidnap survivors and place them on the Space Rider in Wonderland Plaza where the zombies would be kept away due to the noise caused by the machine, deciding to kill anyone who tries to turn it off.

He was voiced by John Kassir.

What Makes Him Magnificent?[]

  • He is a very tragic character who was previously an entertainment clown at Willamette who was traumatized from seeing his audience get eaten by zombies and not wanting anymore people to die, decided to kidnap them and place them on the space rider so they could be safe from danger.
  • He has a very creepy yet cool aspect to his character that makes him entertaining to watch.
  • Despite being extremely broken from his experience, he had enough self control to figure out that noise keeps zombies away, so he decided to make the Space Rider go as fast as possible in hopes that it would keep the zombies away. It works and as a result, Adam creates a safe haven in the mall which he would then use to keep a survivor by the name of Greg Simpson safe.
  • When Frank arrives at the space rider to turn it off, Adam appears and monologues to Frank about his past life before the outbreak and how everyone has died while explaining to him that he won't allow him to turn the machine off because if he does, then the zombies will come back.
  • He manages to be one of the most challenging psychopaths in the game, being able to block Frank's bullets and sometimes break melee weapons when they are used against him, plus having a variety of attacks such as throwing hunting knives, flame breath, several chainsaw attacks and helium balloons with a gas that makes anyone near it cough when it explodes. He is also very acrobatic and can move around quickly so he isn't an easy target.
  • After his death, Frank turns off the machine and while it frees Greg, zombies immediately swarm the space rider, proving Adam's point about how if the machine was turned off, the zombies would come back.
  • Despite being very insane and an undignified death of chainsawing his own guts out and laughing about it while blood comes out his mouth, it isn't disqualifying for these reasons:
    • He manages to handle his insanity better then other characters in the series as he at least had enough self awareness to realize the zombies weakness and create a safe haven in the mall, while other characters rarely pull off something like this.
    • His death scene is tame in comparison to other psychopaths who have more humiliating deaths, such as Darlene Fleischermacher choking on her own sick or Dylan Fuentes telling Nick he gave him blue balls and coming himself before he passes out.

What Makes Him a Baddie?[]

  • He kidnaps Greg and imprisons him on the Space Rider against his will.
  • He attempts to kill Frank for wanting to turn the Space Rider off so that the zombies wouldn't come back.
