♫Keep your friends close and your enemies closer!♫
~ Aeolus' game

Aeolus is a minor character in the 2022-24 concept album, EPIC: The Musical by Jorge Rivera-Herrans, only appearing at Ocean Saga song "Keep your Friends Close". They are the Greek God of Winds that live in their sky island, to which King Odysseus asks their favour to capture the storms blocking his fleet's path to Ithaca. But as Odysseus learns too late, Aeolus is using him for a game to test him and sowed the first seeds of distrust between him and his crew.

They are voiced by Kira Stone.

What Makes Them Magnificent?[]

  • They carry a whimsical air that endears to the audience and serve as a sort of relief from an otherwise tense saga for the musical, always cheery and ready for a game which also helps making their song catchy.
  • When Odysseus asks Aeolus to dispel the storms blocking Ithaca, Aeolus manipulates him into accepting a game that is entirely in their favour by lying to the crew that the bag containing the storm is actually treasure.
  • Sows the seeds of distrust between Odysseus and his crew, egging on the former's paranoia to open the bag and the latter's greed and curiosity, culminating in Eurylochus opening the bag in secret and bringing the fleet to the Land of the Laestrogynians.
  • Overall despite their whimsical nature, they are the only character to undisputedly outsmart Odysseus.

What Makes Them a Baddie?[]

  • Makes a lopsided deal with Odysseus to let them get home as long as the bag is closed, but then turns the crew and Odysseus against each other to see it open, and even encourages Odysseus to kill them all to keep the bag closed.
  • Callously abandons the crew to whatever fate the storm drags them to when her manipulations see Eurylochus opening the bag, and thus Odysseus losing the game.
