That's the spirit, but are you sure you are ready to die? Thought as much.
~ Anarky intimidating a security guard to flee.
It's a sort of random action that makes me the better player. You, the black king representing order, and I the white king - well, I'm Anarky!
~ Anarky to Batman
Bravo Batman. Checkmate. Shall we play again?
~ Anarky accepting his loss with stride in the series finale

Anarky is the main antagonist of the short lived 2013 CGI animated superhero series, Beware the Batman. He is an anarchist obsessed with being Batman's rival, seeing their conflict to be useful in his plans to plunge Gotham into a state of complete anarchy, being his most recurring and one of his most dangerous foes to date, alongside Ra's al Ghul and Deathstroke.

He is voiced by Wallace Langham.

What Makes Him Magnificent?[]

  • Nobody in the show was able to one-up Anarky with the sole exceptions of Batman and Deathstroke, with the former only being able to do so with better physical prowess.
  • Despite being a Pure Evil villain who is a card-carrying sadist, Anarky doesn't engage in brutally cruel or sadistic actions despite his nature, having made it clear himself that death and murder aren't his explicit goals, and thus, his vileness does not undermine his magnificence, especially with the existence of viler and more sadistic Pure Evils in other Batman cartoons. Generally, it helps that Anarky genuinely believes the universe's true nature itself is chaotic and bases his actions around that rather than simply using it as an excuse to commit vile crimes for the sake of being vile.
  • Given a soothing and intimidating performance by Wallace Langham that encapsulates him being a manipulative corrupting influence, while leading to some awesome lines such as "That's the spirit, but are you sure you are ready to die." as one example.
  • While fake considering his Pure Evil status, he is still always in an impeccably polite tone towards both his own allies and enemies that charms even the viewers.
  • Has some funny lines that makes him enjoyable and charming.
  • Has great respect for Batman's skills, frequently congratulating him for his successes, even when Batman doesn't consider him a worthy opponent, which is much better off than how he ended up the first time when he threw a tantrum when Batman didn't consider him one, brushing off that he may not be worth to be Batman's archenemy in his eyes, but he is still a dangerous threat.
  • When things go awry, he prepares a contingency plan when things don't go as how he expected and when he still manages to lose, Anarky takes such losses with great stride and views them as just yet again another one of the many pieces of evidence of the unpredictable and chaotic nature of the universes. Best examples are when he returns Ra's al Ghul's comatose body or calmly admits in the series' final scene when Batman manages to thwart his scheme, Anarky calmly admits checkmate while stating he is ready to play a game.
  • Earns the loyalty of 2 teenaged vandals and have them serve him for his purpose of luring Batman to his game by being their patron and polite to them.
  • Pits the League of Assassins and Batman to manipulate them for his own goals to release a virus stored in the Contingent Research Centre, at one point taking out an entire army of ninjas guarding the body all on his own.
  • Frames Batman for an attempted assassination of the Mayor and then manipulate Batman, Dent and Katana in a scheme he is willing to risk his own life over to work and force Batman to surrender to the police to bait them to a trap.
    • He even calls out Dent for his delusions clouding his own judgement and being biased for seriously believing Batman would've tried to assassinate only out of simple hatred towards him.
    • When chasing Katana to keep the proximity charges in link, Anarky simply laughs off any chance he is going to die while chasing her with her van, while pretty much having the time of his life.
  • Uses a bomb to seemingly fake his own death and escape.
  • Strikes a deal with Harvey Dent and upon his disfigurement, slowly manipulates and corrupts him to Two-Face to defeat Batman once and for all. When they seemingly won and Two-Face turns against him, Anarky easily overcomes it and came seconds away from killing him had Commissioner not intervened, in which he easily escapes.
    • Speaking of which, when placed against Dent, usually villains are more likeable and charming when pitted against a purely evil villain. Due to how much of a Hate Sink Dent is for being a major egotistical hypocrite who hunts down Batman as a front for his power-hungry desires (while also having rash and flawed strategies Anarky participates solely to enjoy watching them fail spectacularly), Anarky ends up as the more charming and magnificent when placed next to the reprehensible Dent.
  • Fakes a museum heist on stealing the Van Gough sketches to lure Batman to a trap and be ambushed by the SCU.
  • Hires Deathstroke to paint himself as a hero and then kill Batman, and then quickly deduces Deathstroke's secret agenda.
  • Manipulates Batman into letting himself go by informing him on Dent's kidnapping by Deathstroke.
  • Manipulates Simon Stagg using the alias of Robert Catesby to fund his project of a Home Security System for his plan to unlock very door in Gotham and use a pre-recorded and saved speech to rally up all of Gotham's citizens to begin a huge riot all across the city.
    • Even with how vile Anarky is, it isn't exactly hard to root for Anarky to kill Simon Stagg for how reprehensible a being and corrupt an executive he is.

What Makes Him a Baddie?[]

  • Arming 2 teenagers and have them go on a rampage that threatened the lives of multiple civilians to attract Batman's attention and kill him.
  • Threatened 2 gondolas filled with dozens of people to be blown up in his game with Batman.
  • Attempted to unleash a lethal plague all across Gotham that will wipe out nearly all of its population.
  • Threatens to blow Batman, Katana, Dent and even him to lure them and the GCPD to a trap to blow up the Symbion Business Park, which was populated by dozens of officers
  • Uses Deathstroke to put innocent citizens in danger by terrorizing Gotham.
  • Attempted to tear Gotham apart by the aforementioned riots upon plunging it into chaos.
