Yes, I lied in my testimony. That I admit, so sentence me accordingly. But that is all I admit. Murder...? Leaking government secrets...? Striking a deal with the detective...? All of it is this young Eastern man's fancy. I have no idea what any of that is about!
~ Graydon, after Naruhodo accuses him of killing Pop Windibank, and leaking London's government secrets.

Ashley Graydon (born Ashley Milverton) Is the secondary antagonist of the 2015 visual novel, The Great Ace Attorney: Adventures.

He is a communications officer in London that ended up working with a corrupt loan shark named 'Magnus McGilded' due to his fear of being poor for his entire life due to his family constantly stressing about not having enough money, so he studied as hard as he could and eventually got a job as a communications officer in London. But soon, Graydon would be lured into the promise of easy money after McGilded took advantage of his past. He would eventually kill McGilded as revenge for him murdering his father, but Graydon's other crimes would soon come to light in court.

What Makes Him Magnificent?[]

  • He is very sophisticated, and keeps an affable nature with everyone around him so long as they do not obstruct his goals and are oblivious to what he is doing.
  • He cared deeply for his father and the Skulkin brothers, wanting to avenge his fathers death and decided to help the Skulkins pin the blame on Gina instead, when blaming them for the manslaughter would have been much easier for him.
  • During Graydon's time dealing government secrets with McGilded, he would ask his father to make special music disks for him, using his fathers expertise in music disks to his advantage by embedding the Morse Code inside the disks themselves, making the Morse code seem like an unknown genre of music instead with no one but Naruhodo being able to tell it is Morse code, but only because he had heard a similar sound to it during Gina's trial.
  • After McGilded murdered his father, he came up with a well thought out plan to kill him in revenge for his fathers death. He hired many people around the city, and one to pose as a bailiff to lure McGilded inside the same carriage that McGilded had killed Graydon's father in, then Graydon and the others doused the carriage with kerosene and burnt McGilded alive while he was stuck inside the carriage with no one being able to tell Graydon had committed the murder. If Graydon hadn't admitted he had done it himself, he would most likely have gotten away with it.
  • When Graydon enters Windibank's pawnbrokery in order to retrieve McGilded's coat and the second music disk, he successfully manipulated everyone into believing the coat was his for a while, until Naruhodo and Sholmes deduced that Graydon was not at the pawnbrokery for the coat, but he wanted the music disk that was inside of it. This then prompted Graydon to try and take the disk at gunpoint, but Tobias Gregson soon broke in and attempted to arrest Graydon, but Graydon managed to evade the officer and escape.
  • Even though Graydon accidentally killed Windibank instead of it being a planned murder, Graydon still concealed his involvement with the crime expertly by making it seem like Gina had committed the murder almost perfectly, while only leaving the Skulkin brothers behind because he had a bullet wound in his shoulder he had to tend to, since he couldn't use any doctors. The only reason he was called as a witness was because one of the jurors for the trial was conveniently his co worker. If they hadn't been at the trial, Graydon would have gotten off scot free.
  • When the music box with the Morse code disk was delivered to court and sounded off, Graydon took the opportunity to play it off as if the music box was broken, managing to trick everyone at first, but Naruhodo soon deduced that it is not music, but possibly Morse code, showing Graydon's improvising skills.
  • He made a deal with Tobias Gregson that he would give him the second music disk if Gregson told him if there was a hole in the backroom where Gina and Windibank's dead body were in order to solidify his alibi at the time of the murder.
  • Despite Naruhodo pressing him many times, Graydon always comes up with well worded and believable testimonies on the spot with him managing to make himself seem perfectly right one time with him leaving no contradictions at all. It was only because Sholmes had conveniently delivered the Cat Flapomat to the court at that time that lead to Graydon's lie in his testimony being exposed.
  • He admits to committing perjury in court so he can get sentenced for that crime instead of his treason or murder in order to get off scot free of his more serious crimes.
  • He suffers a villainous breakdown at first but soon calms down and reveals his motives for all of his crimes, revealing that he hated growing up poor due to his parents constant stress about not having enough money and Graydon either couldn't bear it, or wanted to help them live a better life, so he studied as hard as he could and got his job as a communications officer, but eventually was drawn into McGilded's lure of money if he used his skills to sell government secrets to him. Graydon would feel regret for murdering Windibank, revealing he only wanted to scare him with a bullet, rather then kill him but he missed due to his bad arm, and felt remorse for becoming like McGilded, who he despised for committing monstrous crimes.
  • His murder of McGilded is portrayed as righteous justice rather then a heinous murder, as none of the characters seem to hate him for doing it, and many believed that McGilded deserved what he got for the amount of people he had hurt with his loan sharking and also bribed his way out of a proper guilty verdict.
  • He accepts his defeat with dignity and faces his possible execution or life imprisonment with no fear.
  • He has some of the best 3D animations the Ace Attorney series has ever brought to a character, having him do his own style of dancing and his breakdown is one of the more interesting ones in the series.

What Makes Him A Baddie?[]

  • He stole and sold government secrets to McGilded, not caring about the amount of damage it could cause to Great Britain.
  • He holds the characters in the pawnbrokery at gunpoint and demands they give him the disks by force.
  • He breaks into Windibank's pawnbrokery in order to get the music disk from the music box.
  • He tried to frame Gina for his manslaughter of Windibank, and testified against her in court.
