Awful Alvin is a sentient onion who schemes to conquer Bumblyburg into his own image and the main antagonist of LarryBoy: The Cartoon Adventures.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- He has a delightfully charming personality as an unhinged, eccentric, cunning, power-hungry, card-carrying criminal mastermind. Everything he does is clearly out of a lust for hegemonic power, not simply "For The Evulz."
- Seeking to rule Bumblyburg with an iron fist, his first plan (that we know of) is to bio-engineer angry eyebrows that fly and seek out anger, believing people will be permanently bound to their own bitterness and rage so he can conquer them in their vulnerability. It goes pretty well and the city is plunged into the anarchy Alvin apparently idealizes.
- When LarryBoy arrives, he learns too late he can't remove the eyebrows with brute force, allowing Alvin to outwit him and get angry eyebrows attached to the superhero himself (albeit briefly and temporarily, since LarryBoy just heard about anger management from his mentor Bok Choy).
- Teaming up with Greta van Gruesome to conquer Bumblyburg, he has Lampy shine his light into a telescope to burn open a vault and steal the Eggly (a machine that turns inanimate matter into eggs), despite the Dark Crow almost thwarting him, and when the Dark Crow follows him to a museum he intends to plunder, he uses it to transfigure LarryBoy and the Dark Crow's supersuits before launching his reign of terror.
- As for thinking on his feet, when LarryBoy and the Dark Crow turn up in a machine specifically designed to stop them, Alvin plays the long game to wreck the superweapon by pummeling it with a metal fixture, taking it to his lair, slicing its robot leg off, and burning the interior.
- He comes up with a characteristically flamboyant way to kill all three of the heroes by turning the board they're bound to into overeasy eggs to plop into a gigantic skillet to become the "world's biggest superhero and Vickie omelet".
- When Greta sneaks over to the Eggly and tries to execute LarryBoy in Alvin's place, he stands up to her and rightfully tells her that such a deed should be done by him, and that he could outperform her with a root-like limb behind his back (she's just been following him around and acting like his mini-me out of her own low creativity anyway) and she physically pushes him away. Even then, he rebounds quickly and almost kills LarryBoy anyway before the Dark Crow ambushes and captures him.
- He is extremely comedic, especially when he interacts with his imaginary friend "Lampy", who he believes is as lovely and helpful as one can be even though he is objectively just a lamp. He has plenty of other comedy too. He does the Villainous Dance of Villainy, even in front of his underling Greta who he outshines in every tangible way.
- His evil laugh is outright cathartic.
- Given his vague exclamation that his revenge against LarryBoy is seemingly complete, and the face drawn on Lampy in the first place, he is quite enigmatic, and there is much more to him than we got to see on-screen.
- The only reason he even gets defeated is because he didn't know anything about the Knit Master 3000 conveniently moved to the roof of the Daily Bumble and because Greta van Gruesome was an immature glory hound who wanted to violently shove him just to personally execute LarryBoy using Alvin's own ideas and master plan, both of which he couldn't be expected to possibly plan ahead for.
- Larry Whitaker did a phenomenal job as Awful Alvin's voice actor.
- Despite being arrested, he simply breaks out of prison off-screen, and it is pretty telling that the cops simply put him right back in a conventional prison facility as the last known thing that has happened to Awful Alvin.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- He is a card-carrying villain who wants to conquer Bumblyburg and redesign it in his image.
- He tried to drive everyone insane with his angry eyebrows.
- He turned cars and light fixtures into overeasy eggs.
- He has been hellbent on destroying LarryBoy for a long time.
