Felicia Hardy - better known as Black Cat - is the secondary antagonist of The City That Never Sleeps, the DLC story of the 2018 Marvel superhero game, Marvel's Spider-Man, and a minor character in it's 2023 sequel, Marvel's Spider-Man 2. She is a cat burglar and the daughter of the previous Black Cat, Walter Hardy. She used to be in a romantic relationship with the game's protagonist - Peter Parker/Spider-Man - and has supposedly reformed her criminal ways but is bounced back into stealing in order to supposedly rescue her and Spider-Man's son.
She was voiced by Erica Lindbeck.
What Makes Her Magnificent[]
- She is an expert cat burglar who is shown several times to steal items like statues and paintings spectacularly without getting caught.
- Has a likable personality as she enjoys playfully teasing and flirting with Peter.
- Makes Peter hunt for her cat figurines under the impression she is breaking into several places knowing he would send them to the police evidence lockup. She would then use the EMPs inside of them to disable the police alarms and steal back her gear and costume.
- Craves a hole into a museum where she would disable the camera to the Maria painting and knock out the guards.
- Craves a hole into the Maria exhibit breaks the painting to steal an USB file.
- Distracts Spider-Man by alerting him to a couple of Hammerhead thugs in danger from a falling art exhibit, which she takes advantage of to escape.
- Has some Hammerhead thugs cause a shootout with a rival Maggia gang in order to distract the police from robbing another USB file.
- Stole another USB file and used a flash grenade to blind a security guard.
- Tricks a Hammerhead thugs into thinking she gave him a book containing a flash drive when it was actually empty.
- Uses an EMP to disable Spider-Man’s webbing, making him catch her on foot.
- Can stealthily take out several Hammerhead goons.
- Tricks Hammerhead by giving him fake USB sticks.
- The big reveal of the Heist storyline is that she was manipulating Peter into thinking that they had a son and that Hammerhead was holding him hostage, when in actuality, she just wanted to gain access to his vault.
- Managed to escape from Hammerhead’s attempt to kill her.
- Tracks down Spider-Man and saves him from Hammerhead.
- Manages to consistently evade the hunter's attempts to capture her.
- Steals the Wand of Watoomb from a museum so she could free her girlfriend from dangerous people.
- Teleports inside a hunter's helicopter and knocks the hunter inside out, causing it to crash.
- Manages to defeat several hunters with Miles.
- Ultimately escapes off to Paris to save her girlfriend but not before thanking Miles.
- Erica Lindbeck gives a sultry and emotional vocal performance as Black Cat.
- While she does manipulate him a lot, she does care for Peter as shown by her remorse for manipulating him as well as saving him from Hammerhead.
- It's also pretty clear that she cares for her girlfriend, considering how she aims to rescue her from some dangerous people.
What Makes Her A Baddie?[]
- Is a serial thief who has stolen several items.
- Manipulates Spider-Man into helping her steal her costume and gear from police lockup.
- Broke into a museum and knocked out the the guards.
- Later broke into the Maria exhibit and destroyed the painting to get the USB file.
- Organized a shootout between two Maggia groups in order to distract them while she steals another mafia USB.
- Temporary blinds a security guard with a flash grenade.
- Uses an EMP to disable Spider-Man’s webs.
- Uses the same EMP to attack Spider-Man which can kill him.
- Manipulates Spider-Man once again into helping her steal from Hammerhead.
