Calisto Yew/Shih-na, is the secondary antagonist of Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth. She is seemingly an interpol agent assisting Shi-Long Lang with his investigations, however as the game goes on, she is revealed to be a spy for Quercus Alba's smuggling ring who spied on Byrne Faraday and Tyrell Badd's vigilante group, the Yatagarasu, which was created in order to stop the smuggling ring without the limitations of the law. She is then arrested near the end of the game, however she decides to betray Alba by giving Edgeworth evidence to help convict him and by admitting she hadn't killed anyone during the case, before being taken into custody by Lang.
What Makes Her Magnificent?[]
- Came up with the persona of 'Calisto Yew', a playful defense attorney who takes nothing seriously and is unpleasant to interact with to mask how competent she really is, with all the characters being surprised that she turned out to be a member of the Yatagarasu and was the true mastermind behind the deaths of Mann, Rell and Faraday.
- Successfully spied on the Yatagarasu for three years without them finding out her true occupation as a spy for the Cohdopian smuggling ring.
- When a member of the Cohdopian embassy named Deid Mann wished to testify about suspicious activity regarding the smuggling ring, Yew acted quickly and hired a thug named Mack Rell to kill Mann and told him that if he was caught on tape for the murder, he should claim that he was "The Great Thief Yatagarasu" who was a vigilante thief that fought for justice.
- Realizing that Byrne Faraday was coming close to figuring out who the leader of the smuggling ring was, Yew ordered Rell to accuse Faraday of being the Yatagarasu in court in order to get the two in a secluded area in Defendant Lobby No. 2, where she would then kill Byrne with the Yatagarasu key, a key that could also transform itself into a knife, use a plastic bag to catch any blood that came out his wound and then have Rell help her set up the murder scene to hide her own involvement and put the VCR tape of Mann's murder inside a VCR player, before killing Rell and setting up the crime scene to give herself a false alibi by turning the volume up on the tape to maximum so the gunshot from the tape would be heard, manipulating any investigators into thinking the two men had killed each other at a later timeframe.
- She then proceeded to spill her perfume intentionally 20 minutes after manipulating the crime scene so that detective Badd would open a window and the gunshot from the tape would be heard, causing him to head to Defendant Lobby No.2 and see the bodies of Faraday and Rell and believe that Yew being with him at the time would give her a strong alibi.
- When she was suspected as the true culprit, she tricked Miles Edgeworth into handing the Yatagarasu key over to her by asking if she could see if the key could really turn into a knife, before revealing herself as the Yatagarasu, pulling out a gun on Edgeworth and managing to escape from detective Badd despite being in a courthouse. She then came up with a false persona as "Shih-na" and would remain unpunished for 7 years.
- She managed to gain the trust of Shi-Long Lang, an Interpol investigator who was aiming to take down the Cohdopian smuggling ring enough to the point where she became his secretary who aided him with his cases, even being considered more competent then Lang himself by Edgeworth and Kay.
- She aided Quercus Alba in moving Manny Coachen's body after he killed him, draining the pools that were connected between the two embassies in order to move the body past security, then moving Coachen's body back to the Babahlese office so that investigators would find Coachen's body and the papers inside his safe which would make people believe Coachen was the ringleader behind the smuggling ring.
- She then used a wire from a grandfather clock to move the Primidux statue that contained the counterfeit plates from the Babahlese office to the Allebahst office, while using an office fan as a pulley, before burning the counterfeit bills in the Babahlese office to bring attention to Coachen's corpse.
- Upon seeing Kay Faraday's Little Thief gadget, she came up with a plan to frame her on the spot during Turnabout Ablaze, making sure Kay saw a figure of her in the Babahlese office, before exiting the room through the secret passage behind the fireplace into the adjacent office and arrest Kay as if she just arrived, almost framing her for the murder of Coachen until Edgeworth arrived and proved Kay could not have killed Coachen.
- After being revealed as the culprit by Edgeworth, she lures Kay towards her by explaining why she killed her father, before taking her hostage and attempting to escape just as she did 7 years prior.
- Before being sent to jail, she shows respect towards Edgeworth for being a worthy opponent and shows respect towards Lang too, telling him that she would have been content being his second-in-command had things been different. She then gives the two of them a vague clue as to who the real criminal is and gives Kay two hair sticks, which later turn out to be crossbow bolts that she and Alba used to move the Primidux statues.
What Makes Her a Baddie?[]
- She aided Alba's smuggling ring for at least 10 years just for the thrill of it, even helping him destabilize 2 countries in the process.
- She spied on the Yatagarasu for three years and fed intel to the smuggling ring.
- She hired Mack Rell to kill Deid Mann upon finding out that he knew about the suspicious activity with the smuggling ring.
- She killed Byrne Faraday and Mack Rell, then attempted to frame Dick Gumshoe for the double murder.
- She stole the Yatagarasu key, held Edgeworth and Franziska at gunpoint and attempted to kill Edgeworth before resisting arrest by escaping the courthouse.
- She spied on Lang's investigations and fed intel to the smuggling ring in order to halt his progress as much as possible.
- She aided Alba with moving Coachen's body and caused two fires in order to do so, endangering dozens of lives.
- She attempted to frame Kay for Coachen's murder in order to steal Little Thief for the smuggling ring.
- She takes Kay hostage at gunpoint and attempts to evade arrest once she is exposed as the culprit.
