“ | For what it's worth I did enjoy meeting you, Mr. Spock. Xaverius always talked about you. I urge you to consider that you do not need to be either Vulcan or Human. That is and always has been a false choice. The question isn't what you are, but who you are. See you later. | „ |

Captain Angel is a one-shot villain in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, serving as the main antagonist of episode 7, Serene Squall.
They are the leader of a pirate crew and lover of Spock's half-brother, Sybok, that orchestrates an elaborate scheme to hijack the Enterprise to secure Sybok's release from jail.
What Makes Them Magnificent?[]
- They posed as humanitarian activist Dr. Aspen to lure the Federation into non-Federation space with a completely fabricated story of refugees they were helping being kidnapped and sold into slavery there, pulling on the Enterprise crew's heroic heartstrings and emotions.
- They were a snarky, comedic foil to Spock's seriousness. Additionally, they were genuinely affable and provided advice to Spock to embrace his emotions more and that he didn't need to be either vulcan or human as it was a false choice, but could instead choose his own unique identity.
- They disguised their crew's boarding signal by having them beam aboard the Enterprise the exact moment the Enterprise landing party beamed down on the Serene Squall, catching the heroes by surprise and successfully seizing control of the ship.
- Additionally, they had an ambush ready for the landing party to imprison them as well.
- Since first officer Una had locked down the ship's control systems, Angel remained in their impersonated identity a little while longer to escape with Spock, so he could use his credentials to take control of the ship from engineering, at which point they promptly transferred it back to the bridge and held both Spock and Nurse Chapel at gunpoint, revealing their true identity.
- They used Spock as a hostage and blackmailed his fiancee T'Pring into arriving at the Federation border with Sybok to trade. They nearly succeeded in getting Sybok released had Spock not done the completely unexpected move of faking an affair with Nurse Chapel to get T'Pring to call off the deal.
- After Pike and the landing party revealed they'd seized control of the Serene Squall and disabled the Enterprise, Captain Angel accepted their loss with grace and assured Spock that their advice to them was genuine, before revealing they had a backup plan and teleported away to a stowaway ship, escaping scot-free by the episode's end.
What Makes Them a Baddie?[]
- They're a murderous pirate that launched countless raids on the Federation border and whose invasion of the Enterprise caused several casualties.
- They stole the identity of humanitarian activist Dr. Apsen and stranded them on an uninhabited world.
- They nearly blackmailed T'Pring into releasing Sybok from jail by using her boyfriend Spock as a hostage, despite knowing that T'Pring freeing Spock would destroy her career.
