Carmen Sandiego is the main antagonist of the 90's TV Series, Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego? She is the world's greatest thief and commits various larceny acts for the sake of fulfilling different agendas and achievements in each episode.
What Makes Her Magnificent?[]
- She is honorable as she always levels the playing field between her and her opponents. She always gives out hints to her scheme, giving ACME Detectives a chance to figure out what she's up to in order to try to stop her. When she gives herself an advantage, it is only because she feels as if her opponents aren't playing on an equal footing.
- She doesn't resort to lethal methods or intend for her opponents to die when trying to stop her in her tracks. In one instance, she even attempted to save Ivy showing that she can commit her crimes without resorting to harming her opposition.
- When her minions fail her or performs misconducts, she doesn't immediately resort to punishing them and instead gives them a chance to do better. She often encourages and values teamwork and trains her henchmen to have good sportsmanship and be good team players. Her method of punishment is also indirect as it only involves letting the police do their jobs and detain them for their crimes.
- When the player mocks her success due to the fact she uses modern technology to her advantage, she takes him up on his challenge and successfully performs thefts without using her gadgets. She only resorts to using her ace up her sleeve when escaping arrest from the ACME Detectives.
- Even though she fails in fulfilling what she set out to do each episode, it's evident that's she's skilled enough to at least steal the items under everyone's noses. Not only that, but she always takes each defeat with stride and gets away with her crimes before bouncing back and coming up with a new scheme, repeating the loop over and over again.
- While her goals vary in each episode, her motivation mainly stems from wanting to achieve something no one else has ever done just to prove to herself she can be the best or just does her thefts for the pure fun of it, knowing that even if she fails, she can at least always get away with it.
- She constantly maintains a calm and affable demeanor even in the face of struggles, calmly coming up with ways to mitigate the setbacks and cuts her losses when she can.
- She speaks in a soft but confident manner and moves in mysterious yet dramatic ways, like a master thief which gives her massive Evil is Cool vibes. This is expressed well in the intro. She also has witty lines at the end of every episode, taunting the player and challenging him to catch her "next crime".
- She's able to take risks and performs risky moves whenever necessary in order to secure her success in the short or long-term knowing she'll come out on top in the end.
- Her smug nature doesn't overshadow her magnificence because she can actually back up her confidence with her intelligence to evade capture. In one instance, she intentionally woke up a sleeping guard by poking him and still managed to escape the police.
What Makes Her a Baddie?[]
- She's a thief that steals items or famous monuments to use for her own purposes or just to prove to herself and others that she's the greatest thief.
- She has an organization of henchmen to assist her with her crimes and imprison or subdues anyone from putting a stop to her plans.
- She altered the course of history using a time machine to put historical events into disarray.
