You already know rogue Ricks used Mortys to hide themselves from the Citadel, but you might not know it worked so well that the Citadel became its own Morty market, and I'm sure you don't know how far they've gone to help supply meet demand. Sure, Ricks can scour infinity for naturally-occurring grandsons, but why bother? So much work. Such an admission of need. There aren't infinite versions of our grandfather, Morty. He's an infinite smear of one sh**ty old man, and he's attached to us infinitely through his weakness and our forgiveness. This is why we're with him. This is why we're alive.
~ Evil Morty telling Morty Prime about the agony that several Mortys, likely including himself, have gone through at the hands of their grandfathers.

Sympathetic Magnificent Baddies are characters who are either heavily portrayed sympathetically or possess qualities that make them sympathetic.

These include:

  • Magnificent Baddies who possess genuinely tragic backstories or freudian excuses that explain their bad behavior.
  • Magnificent Baddies who display redeeming qualities/other factors that show them in the more humanizing light, or feature some other moments that display their kinder or more human side that depict them in a more sympathetic light.
  • Magnificent Baddies who possess insecurities that are portrayed as sympathetic qualities.
  • Magnificent Baddies who either die or suffer through horrible events, with the narrative presenting it in sympathetic tone.
  • Magnificent Baddies who are combinations of any or all four factors combined.

NOTE: Not every Magnificent Baddie who has a freudian excuse or is insecure falls under this category, as the story can depict such qualities as unsympathetic, or their crimes are bad enough to shed any sympathy they may have once had.
