Cecil Turtle is a character from the Looney Tunes shorts by Warner Brothers. He is a turtle who appears in the episodes "Tortoise Beats Hare", "Tortoise Wins by a Hare", and "Rabbit Transit." In each of these episodes, he is challenged by Bugs Bunny to a race to see who's faster.

What Makes Him Magnificent?[]

  • He was able to actually outwit Bugs Bunny on three different occasions, and he is the only Looney Tunes character with a perfect winning streak against Bugs alongside The Gremlin, which is unlike several villains in the franchise who are often dumb/immature, are prone to be easily defeated by Bugs or are easily outsmarted by Bugs.
  • Although he seems slow-witted on the surface, he is very sly and devious at coming up with plans to one-up Bugs. He's also easy to side with due to using Bugs' own arrogance and willingness to cheat, which means he faked his appearance as a "moron" to hide how intelligent, crafty and cunning he actually is.
  • In his first appearance, Bugs challenges him to a race, betting him 10 dollars that he's faster. Cecil is able to win by calling up a series of relatives, having them pose as him at different points of the race (bewildering Bugs as to how Cecil could get ahead of him despite being a turtle). When Bugs gets to the finish line, Cecil (or one of the others) is already there, and Bugs has to hand over the money.
  • When Bugs disguises himself to try to get information out of him, Cecil sees through the disguise and tricks Bugs by claiming turtles are built better for racing, while sneaking in an insult that rabbits aren't very bright, before slamming the door in the enraged Bugs' face.
  • As a result of his deception, Bugs builds an artificial shell for the next race, thinking this will help him win. Cecil disguises himself as a rabbit, which causes a gang of rabbits (who are betting on Bugs) to mistake Bugs for the turtle and attack him, helping Cecil win again.
  • In their third race, Cecil builds a jetpack into his shell, allowing him to outpace Bugs. When Bugs manages to win despite this, Cecil tricks Bugs into loudly admitting he was "doing 100 easy" which is over the speed limit, and Bugs is falsely arrested.
  • He is affable at times, such as getting along with the other turtles and even inviting the audience to wager on him, stating the odds would be in their favor.

What Makes Him a Baddie?[]

  • He's willing to cheat to win a race, even getting Bugs to pay him on the false pretense that he won fairly.
  • He clearly enjoys the suffering he puts Bugs through and shows no remorse for any of it.

Trivia[]

  • He's so far, the only Looney Tunes character/villain to be an MB.
  • His The Looney Tunes Show counterpart doesn't qualify as MB due to him being manipulated by Bugs Bunny twice, generally being too petty/sadistic with his trickery and scheming to the point he's too laughable and immature, and he also had a couple of humiliating defeats delivered to him by Bugs.
