| ~ Coach Oleander's first line |
Coach Morceau Oleander is a major character in the Psychonauts series, serving as the main antagonist of Psychonauts and a major character in Psychonauts: in the Rhombus of Ruin and Psychonauts 2. though he doesn't appear in the first game as much as his partner Dr. Loboto after he is revealed as a villain.
Oleander is the main counselor at "Whispering Rock Psychic Summer Camp", which he runs like a drill sergeant and right from the start is very mean to all the kids. The first level in the game is a battlefield–like training course within Oleander’s mind throughout which his voice is heard yelling insults at the trainees, including the player no matter how well they are doing.
Later, after the campers’ brains start being stolen, it is revealed that Coach Oleander is plotting to steal all of them and use them for brain–powered psychic tanks which he intends to take over the world with. To this end, he is working with Dr. Loboto, the proprietor of a nearby insane asylum, to extract the brains.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- He is shown to be tragic as the reason why he wanted to take over the world is because he got traumatized by his father's butcher shop and the military kicked him out because of his height.
- While it is the whole reason he wanted to take over the world, he wasn't too broken by his past as seen in his mind he managed to sugar coat it to hide it.
- While he isn't able to go to the military due to his size it does not stop him from making his own military stuff by making it up in his head (possibly to hide what really happened).
- While stealing kid’s brains and leaving them to fates worse than death sounds bad in the papers it’s not too vile as it is reversible.
- He tricked both Sasha Nein and Milla Vodella into coming in a fake emergency for him to use super sneezing powder to take their brains.
- As Kochamara, he removed the psi blast ammo from Razputin so he won’t be able to fire at him from above.
- He went to Boyd Cooper to brainwash into having a milkman persona to burn the asylum to hide evidence just in case.
- Even when he had his brain sneezed out he manages to place it in a brain tank to fight Raz.
- He is shown to be a good fighter in his boss fights such as Kuchamari where he retain some Ultraman inspired moves and his brain tank battle where its harder than the blue print battle.
- At the end he redeemed himself as he apologized to the kids for stealing there brains.
- In Rhombus of Ruins when Dr. Loboto was about to remove raz's brain he managed to give him his psycho portal to put on his head before he is able to do it.
- At the post game of Psychonauts 2 he helped teach the Aquatos how to swim despite not knowing how to swim himself.
What Makes Him A Baddie?[]
- He stole all of the kids' brains including his friends Sasha and Milla to put them in battle tanks to takeover the world.
- He had Dr. Loboto mutate a lungfish named Linda into a monster in order to kidnap the kids.
- Even after his redemption he always still extreme such as suggesting to the motherlobe they should build a battle bot and he's also a bit hypocritic as he is disappointed that Maligula gets to be free despite everything she even though he done the same crimes himself.
