Cucuruz Doan is the major protagonist of the anime Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island. He is the former captain of the elite Zeon squad Southern Cross Corps but deserted away from the army after seeing civilian casualties, thus end up living in Alegranza where he opened an orphanage for the war orphans he found.
What makes him magnificent ?[]
- Has a sympathetic background as he deserted away from Zeon due to all their civilian deaths caused by their operations.
- Opened an orphanage for numerous war orphans.
- Tricked Zeon into believing their operatives is still on the island despite they were already killed by Doan.
- Is an excellent pilot that is on par with Char Aznable.
- Despite using an inferior MS-06 Zaku II, Doan managed to outsmart and defeat Amuro Ray’s Gundam by forcing him to a cliff, using geological features to his advantage.
- Despite defeating Amuro, Doan spared him and offered to let him live with the war orphans.
- Is a loving father figure who is loved and respected by the orphans.
- To stay under low profile, he sabotaged the light tower’s electricity.
- When the Southern Cross Corps attacked his island, he managed to dispatch two of the corps quickly even though they are using the superior Mobile Suit Zaku High Mobility (Surface Type).
- Successfully sabotaged the nuclear missiles, preventing them from destroying major cities.
- Let the White Base leave the island out of gratitude.
What makes him a bastard[]
- Is very ruthless when it comes to protecting his new family, killing any soldier that set foot in the islands be they Earth Federation or Zeon.
- Killed the Zeon operatives that were on the island.
- Attacked Amuro.
- Killed his former squad mate, among them are Selma Livens, Doan’s former lover.
