Dr. Ivo Robotnik, more commonly known as Eggman, is the secondary antagonist of Sonic Adventure. He is an evil genius who wants to rule the world and get rid of Sonic the Hedgehog.

He was voiced by the late Deem Bristow in English and the late Chikao Ohtsuka in Japanese.

What Makes Him Magnificent?

• Unlike most incarnations of him, this version of Robotnik is very charismatic, as even in his defeats, he is quick to recover and continues to scheme his plots.
• He is very deceptive, with him nabbing a Chaos Emerald from Tails when he was supposedly weakened by his defeat.
• Manipulated Knuckles into thinking Sonic was the bad guy, and then uses that to grab Sonic's Chaos Emeralds.
• Despite being mockingly called Eggman by Sonic, this never detracts from his magnificence, and it never reduces him to the point of being a butt-monkey.
• He is very charming and entertaining thanks to his exuberance and goofiness.
• Although he was betrayed by Chaos, as the latter does not show much intelligence, this cannot be considered an outplay, unlike Shadow the Hedgehog.
• He is able to think on his feet when it comes to devising plans and getting what he wants out of a situation.
• He is willing to go that extra mile when it comes to accomplishing his goal,
• Unlike his counterpart in the sequel, this Eggman does not rely on personal villainy to be detestable.

What Makes Him a Baddie?

• He reawakened Chaos to destroy the Station Square, in order to build Robotnikland and rule the world. Not to mention, he tried to destroy it himself as seen in Tails' story.
• Tried to kill Sonic and Tails (the latter having Robotnik threatening to make "mincemeat" out of him).

Trivia

• Although Sonic Adventure 2 is canon to Sonic Adventure 1, Robotnik's sequel counterpart in that game is not MB due to being played as a pawn by both Shadow and Rouge.
