If you believe that you can pull on people's heartstrings, you should take your chances with the police. From where I sit, you made your own luck. As did your former partner. As did your lawyer. You said it yourself, a deal's a deal.
~ Ed Galbraith to Jesse Pinkman.

Edward "Ed" Galbraith, also known as the Disappearer, is a supporting character in the crime drama series Breaking Bad, its prequel series Better Call Saul and the sequel film El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. He is a vacuum cleaner repairman and salesman who also operates as a criminal "disappearer". His clients for this service include Walter White, Saul Goodman and Jesse Pinkman.

He was portrayed by the late Robert Forster.

What Makes Him Magnificent?[]

  • He runs a legitimate business while secretly offering a service of aiding criminals by giving them new identities and lives.
  • He is highly intelligent, cautious and resourceful and has a strict set of rules when dealing with criminals, making him completely effective in his service and able to avoid being caught.
  • He is sincerely friendly with his customers in both businesses and offers quality service to them.
  • He has a high sense of honor, holding his end of the bargain to the best of his abilities provided that he is paid sufficiently.
  • Despite harboring fugitives for money, he also has a somewhat compassionate side as shown when he gives Jesse a second chance, despite Jesse breaking some of his rules (in which case Ed would normally refuse service), helping him flee to Alaska as Jesse requested and promising to mail a letter from him to Brock Cantillo before parting ways with Jesse in peace.
  • When Saul (as Gene Takavic) calls to tell him he has been recognized, Ed is willing to extract and relocate him once more though charging him double.

What Makes Him a Baddie?[]

  • He assists wanted fugitives in escaping justice, even dangerous criminals like Walter White, as long as he receives the right amount of payment.
  • He forces Jesse to pay double after his services were denied the first time he was called, even though it required minimal effort for him to drive to the pickup spot, thereby exploiting Jesse's vulnerable circumstances for money.
