~ El Macho realizing that someone (Gru and Lucy) has broken into his restaurant, and his most famous quote.
Eduardo Perez, also known as El Macho, is the main antagonist of the Illumination Entertainment film Despicable Me 2, the second installment in the Despicable Me franchise. He was a feared supervillain known for his extreme masculinity. After faking his death, he opens up a restaurant where he decides to rule the world 20 years later.
While he is doubtlessly extremely heinous by the system's standard for plotting to massacre multiple cities to remake the world in his image, his badassery, humor, and friendliness prevent him from being too vile, and he is a reasonably mature man who is doing all of this for a pragmatic purpose of accomplishing something logical like power, especially when Vector Perkins, Scarlett Overkill, Balthazar Bratt, and Maxime Le Mal are far more incompetent and cartoonishly childish by a longshot, all four seeking to accomplish something illogical like blowing vengeance out of proportion.
He also poses a very real threat to the world. While the other four posed a threat, it was a very small threat that was easily thwarted (Vector and Scarlett especially), whereas El Macho was far more difficult to earn the last laugh on.
Furthermore, his scheme, which is grandiose in its nature, is only heinous enough due to a few throwaway lines.
He was a fearsome and respected supervillain back in his day known for being "very macho", managing to be intimidating, cool, and funny at the same time as he grabbed a bottle of scorpion alcohol, poured it along with venom from a snake into a glass, ate the glass, paid for it by pinning the money to the table with the snake, walked through the wall, and robbed a truck using only his head and hands.
He faked his death by riding a shark with 250 pounds of dynamite strapped to his chest into a volcano, before surviving and pretending to be dead for 20 years.
He stole an entire secret base using a giant magnet in order to get the PX-41 serum, which caused anyone or anything to take it to turn into large, purple, very powerful, and violent versions of themselves.
While he did kidnap the Minions, they were not treated cruelly while in captivity, as he kept the Minions on an artificial beach with perfect weather, a slide, and plenty of food and drinks, showing just how kindly he treats his followers.
He managed to frame fellow shop owner Eaglesan for the theft of the PX-41 serum which actually succeeded since the Anti-Villain League were convinced Eaglesan was the culprit.
He is genuinely affable and cheerful unlike his manipulative and devious son, Antonio, as he welcomes Gru and Lucy as "part of the mall family", gives a woman he was dancing with a free gift card for his restaurant, invites Gru and his family to his party, sympathizes with Gru's broken heart, and isn't even mad at Gru when he discovers his secret lair, offering to rule the world with him and even admitting he was inspired by Gru.
He is shown to be charismatic and a charmer, as he dances with a woman and gives her a free gift card, which impressed the audience and woos several ladies.
Although he has a somewhat humiliating defeat of being tazed with the lipstick tazer, doing ridiculous dances, and being knocked out by the fart gun, other characters have received far more undignified moments that makes El Macho more tame in comparison.
Compared to Maxime’s humiliating defeat by the Mega Minions who don’t even know how to be heroes, Scarlet Overkill’s breakdown once she gets frozen and upstaged by Gru, or Bratt being defeated the same way he defeated Gru, the defeat El Macho has is more karmic and comical rather than comedically humiliating.
Not to mention, he also stares down at Dr. Nefario’s jelly guns, which contain the cure, and tells him that he isn’t afraid of them thinking that he was going to be taken down with the jelly guns, meaning he takes his defeat like a champ, especially since Despicable Me 4’s ending shows him happily dancing in prison.
He is shown to happily sing along with Gru and Maxime’s song in their talent show and dances with Vector, Bratt and the other villains in the AVL prison and hugs a Minion in the background, only adding to his affability.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
He was a fearsome supervillain who committed many crimes, such as grabbig a bartender and tossing him aside for simply standing in front of a bottle of alcohol he wanted, before punching two bank truck drivers to steal the entire truck.
He stole a secret base containing PX-41 to kidnap nearly all the Minions and mutate them to form an army of killing machines, intending to unleash them onto various cities across the world so he can cause death & destruction on a global scale and rule the remains.
He framed Eaglesan for the theft of the serum by planting traces of it in his shop.
He sent the mutated Kevin to Gru's house when Gru refused to join him, almost getting Margo, Edith, and Agnes killed.
He tried to kill Gru and Lucy when they tried to stop his plans.
