Fennec Shand is a character in the Star Wars franchise, serving as a major character in the 2019 Disney+ live-action series The Mandalorian, a supporting character in the 2021 animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch, and the deuteragonist of the 2021-2022 live-action miniseries The Book of Boba Fett, a spin-off of The Mandalorian.
She is a master assassin who had been active since the rise of the Galactic Empire. Following an unfortunate confrontation on Tatooine, Fennec was left for dead until she was rescued by the former bounty hunter Boba Fett, whom she would later ally with to reclaim criminal territory from the late Jabba the Hutt.
She was portrayed by Ming-Na Wen.
What Makes Her Magnificent?[]
- Ming-Na Wen's performance brings lots of charisma to the character in addition to her awesome stunts and depicts her complex character as an honorable assassin.
- She is an expert markswoman, sniper and martial artist. With these skills, she always puts up a good fight against her enemies and poses a great threat even when they are stronger and/or more experienced.
- She is clever, cunning and manipulative when not in combat, which often also works to her advantage.
- She gained an impressive reputation as a dangerous elite mercenary and assassin from carrying out contract killings for the galaxy's top crime syndicates.
- She has a sense of honor as she always repays good deeds and holds her end of the bargain up:
- She enlisted the aid of Hunter and Wrecker in capturing a bounty hunter and in return allowed them to gather information on M-counts by sending Asajj Ventress to tell them.
- After Boba saved her when she was shot and left for dead by Toro Calican, she dedicated her life to serving him as a token of her gratitude.
- She helped the Mandalorian in his mission to rescue Grogu from Moff Gideon after he returned Boba his armor.
- She voluntarily puts aside her differences when teaming up with old enemies, as seen in her cooperation with the Bad Batch and the Mandalorian.
- When trying to kidnap Omega, she gains her trust by pretending to be a good friend while also giving her honest advice on survival in the galaxy.
- After fighting Cad Bane on Bora Vio, she sabotages his ship to prevent him from pursuing her or Omega.
- Although her attempt to manipulate Calican into releasing her (almost fatally) backfired, she still convinced him to turn against the Mandalorian.
- She stops Black Krrsantan from killing Boba and the Mods by trapping him into Jabba's former rancor pit.
- She is a valuable asset to Fett in his war against the Pyke Syndicate, not only in battle but also by saving the Mods from Aqualish gangsters and assassinating the Pyke boss and all the crime lords allied with the Pykes.
What Makes Her a Baddie?[]
- She committed murders on behalf of criminal organizations during the reign of the Empire.
- She attempts to abduct Omega for Nala Se twice.
- She threatens to shoot Grogu if the Mandalorian does not return Boba's armor.
