~ Gabby Gabby

Gabby Gabby is the main antagonist of Pixar's 21st full-length feature animated film and the 4th movie in the Toy Story franchise, Toy Story 4.

She is a vintage pull-string talking doll from the 1950s who resided in the Second Chance Antique store for a while before encountering Woody and Forky. At first, she is a bit antagonistic towards them, trying to take Woody's voice box to replace hers for the sake of having a voice box that works and having a kid owner of her own. Despite turning on them, she eventually reforms because of Woody's benevolent assistance.

She was voiced by Christina Hendricks.

What Makes Her Magnificent?[]

  • She surprisingly has the most sympathetic characterization among the film series' main antagonists, especially given that she doesn't have any sort of intentional recklessness towards others in spite of what she had done before.
  • She shows plenty of charisma towards Woody and Forky during their first encounter, politely introducing herself and her assistant ventriloquist dummy, Vincent, to him and inviting them into her carriage under the offer of taking them to Bo Peep since she is who they're looking for when noticing that Woody had a voice box while maintaining conversation with them through asking him questions about his voice box before having her ventriloquist dummies, the Bensons, chase after him and Forky when they escape the carriage with them managing to capture Forky.
  • She is shown to have traits of a Benevolent Boss towards the Bensons treating them with respect, even being polite in some of her commands like saying please while telling them to capture Woody and Forky.
  • She treats Forky with affability as her hostage even when she doesn't need to like having Benson put his arms back on correctly and sharing her motives with him, pretty much befriending him, before asking him through a charismatic manner to tell her everything he knows about Woody.
  • She had the Bensons stay on guard to keep a watchout in case Woody returns so that they would be able to capture him when he does with one of them almost succeeding in doing so, only failing due to Bo Peep.
  • She sets up a clever trap to capture Woody by having Forky hide himself under the guise of playing a game of hide-and-seek and when Woody arrives, she would ambush him with the Bensons, which almost works though they end up escaping thanks to Bo Peep.
  • She manages to ambush Woody with the Bensons with her deducing that he'd be back and being behind a couple of curtains he was about to get through.
  • She successfully takes Woody's voice box through convincing him to give it to her by appealing to his emotions, using the information she gained from Forky through her conversations with him about Woody like his relationship with Andy and manages to get him to put Gabby Gabby's happiness above his happiness by surrendering being able to make children happy to Gabby so that she can make her life better, essentially using a form of psychological manipulation to do this and pulling a Batman Gambit at that too.
  • She honors her deal with Woody and lets Forky go with him after bidding him goodbye before going to try to get Harmony as her owner.
  • When Harmony ends up rejecting her, instead of reacting vindictively to that, Gabby Gabby tells Woody that he can have his voice box back since she didn't need it, hinting her initial sense of atonement for her previous misdeeds.
  • She ends up redeeming herself by accepting Woody's offer to come with her to Bonnie and helps him in his attempt to do so.
  • When she spots a young child whose lost in a corner in the carnival and is crying, she decides to try to help make said child happy and be her owner instead of having Bonnie be her owner, which she succeeds at with the help of Woody and his friends, helping the child become comforted enough by Gabby Gabby's presence alone to be able to get help from security to find their way back to the child's parents.

What Makes Her A Baddie?[]

  • She basically commits attempted theft as while she did end up taking Woody's voice box with his consent at the end, she did try to do it previously by force by trying to have the Bensons capture him and allow her to take his voice box without his consent and also commits abduction with the Bensons taking Forky and bringing him to her.
