General Kalani is the secondary antagonist of the Onderon arc of Season 5 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the main antagonist of the Star Wars Rebels episode "The Last Battle". He is a super tactical droid and commander of the Separatist Droid Army during the Clone Wars.
He was voiced by Gregg Berger, who also voiced Mysterio in Spider-Man: The Animated Series.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- First of all, he is a super tactical droid, a series of droids noted for their high intelligence and brilliant tactics.
- He is implied to have set up the one-way force field around the prison where the deposed King Ramsis Dendup is kept, allowing him to capture Saw Gerrera when the rebel tries to rescue Dendup.
- During the planned public execution of Dendup and Saw, he has a backup droid force surround the rebels coming to the rescue, before forcing them to either surrender or be executed as well. The executions are only foiled by the unexpected betrayal of General Tandin and intervention from Ahsoka Tano.
- He sends several droid gunships after the Onderon rebel army after their base is located on his orders. This nearly destroys the entire resistance, which is only prevented due to Anakin Skywalker paying Hondo Ohnaka to deliver arms to the rebels in time.
- When rebel victory is imminent, under Count Dooku's orders he retreats to Agamar with his remaining army and weapons and kills Dooku's puppet Sanjay Rash when the corrupt king objects.
- When the Separatist Droid Army received a shutdown command at the end of the Clone Wars, he deduced it was a Republic trick and prevented the ordered deactivation, allowing him and his forces to survive into the Imperial era.
- After realizing that he and the Rebel Alliance have a common goal of fighting tyranny and the Separatists were merely Palpatine's pawns, he allies with the Rebels against the Empire.
- He helps the Rebel group escape Agamar and has his droids destroy an Imperial walker in the process, before also evacuating with most of his forces.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- He orders the killing of anyone who opposes the rule of King Rash, rebels and civilians alike.
- He tortures Saw for information, to the point that Gerrera could have been electrocuted to death had Tandin not stopped him.
- He attempts to execute the rightful king Dendup and the rebels in front of the citizens of Onderon to instill fear in them.
- He forces Ezra Bridger, Kanan Jarrus and Captain Rex to battle his droid army while holding Zeb Orrelios hostage.
