Hai Phượng is the titular main protagonist of the 2019 Vietnamese action movie Furie. She is the mother of Mai, who sought to save her daughter from the notorious child trafficking gang led by Thanh Soi.
She was portrayed by Veronica Ngo.
What Makes Her Magnificent?[]
- Is an expert in Vovinam, easily besting groups of people in combat single-handedly. The cool presence from Veronica Ngo greatly helps too.
- Initially was a corrupted gangster, she decided to reside in a village to take care of Mai as an act of redemption. She also tried her best to take care of her.
- When Mai was captured, she reached her way to save her, and of course, she managed to fight out various thugs that opposed her, singlehandedly.
- She snuck into a truck to travel to Saigon.
- Arriving at the local police station, she stole some paperwork and studied the location of the child kidnapping.
- At her brother Truc's house, she reached him for help. While they did have a fight, she luckily spared him because of her mother.
- She successfully found the source of the kidnapping, trying to reason with Thanh to replace her daughter. Though she was defeated at first and was tossed into the river, she made her way out.
- She faked a hostage takeout with the nurse to escape from the police.
- She apologized to her brother about how bad a mother she was.
- She managed to best Thanh's thugs on the train, making her way to Thanh.
- Even if Thanh weakened her during their confrontation, she recovers and defeated Thanh with ease.
- Though she was bested by the final wave of gangsters, this is due to them having guns, making her lack in power, though what she makes up is her success in beating most of them.
- Overall, she is a great mother to Mai, sacrificing her life to protect her loved one.
What Makes Her a Baddie?[]
- She is a debt collector who uses harsh means to get money from people, though it is understandable that some are jerks and being her only mean of taking care her daughter.
- Being an ex-gangster, she uses her means of violence to resort with her enemies. Even though all of them are threats, the way she responds is unnecessary.
