So what are we going with? Two on one? Or should I call in my other two selves and make it four on one?
~ Hecatia in the Extra Stage
As for the relationship between Gensokyo and other worlds, I think it's not really practical for each world to maintain their complete independence. That's because each world is fundamentally interconnected. If you build a giant wall somewhere, that wall is definitely coming down someday, and if you exclude people you consider "unnecessary", then you're definitely setting up your own downfall. Otherworlds aren't "distant" worlds, they're just your neighbors. Take this as advice from a Goddess who's done a lot of traveling between worlds.
~ Hecatia advising Aya in Alternative Facts in Eastern Utopia

Hecatia Lapislazuli or Hecate is the secret boss of Touhou Project: Legacy of the Lunatic Kingdom and one of its main antagonists. She is a mysterious and eccentric goddess of who rules over the hells of all Universes, and works with Junko to attack the Lunar Capital in an attempt to assassinate Chang'e.

What makes her Magnificent?[]

  • She's an intelligent goddess who rules over hell with excellent competence.
  • She has a charming and eccentric personality that is rather unexpected for a person in her role.
  • She has several comedic and laughable moments throughout the series that make her more likeable such as her weird fashion sense.
  • She's a genuinely well intentioned extremist who wants to take down the Lunar Capital's control over the Moon, seeing the capital's residents as xenophobic assholes with an unfathomable ego. What makes this interesting is that the audience cant even disagree, as everything Hecatia criticizes the Lunarians of is true.
  • Despite being the goddess of hell, she's actually described as a rather kind person, which is evident by her mother-daughter relationship with Clownpiece, and her politeness.
  • She sympathized with Junko's pain and misery and befriend her to help her against the Lunar Capital
  • She collaborated with Junko to create a master plan to invade the Lunar Capital and demolish their society, by having Junko and Clownpiece attack the Capital with an army of purified fairies to poison the Lunarians with 'impurities', and having Hecatia trap the Lunarians in the Dream realm to leave the Capital unguarded.
  • It is shown that not only was Hecatia fully aware her holding the Lunarians hostage would provoke an attack, she also had a plan to use said attack to her advantage if that happened, showing her strategy
  • Her hatred of the Lunarians is out of standards, as she dislikes their isolationist and arrogant ways and also holds a grudge against them for directly affecting hell by shooting down the suns.
  • When confronted by the heroines, she uses a variety of tricks in her battle, such as switching between bodies to pull of spell cards or fighting side by side with Junko for other spell cards, posing as one of the most challenging and difficult bosses in the entire series.
  • After finding out the Lunarians would exterminate all life on Gensokyo to escape Junko, she gives up her plans and releases the Lunarians.
  • After the events of the game, she gets Clownpiece to settle into Gensokyo and assigns her several tasks, frequently visiting Gensokyo to check on Clownpiece.
  • When accused by Aya of planning an invasion on Gensokyo with the forces of hell, Hecatia rebukes her statements by pointing out that Gensokyo always relied on new coming youkai from other places to make its society diverse and thriving, and an isolationist approach would make Gensokyo as bad as the Lunar Capital. She also points out that Aya for twisting and stretching the truth in her newspapers to get attention through manufactured outrage.
  • Just like Junko, after being defeated she holds no ill-will towards the heroines.
  • in Alternative Facts in Eastern Utopia, She told Aya that her hell doesn't have any punishment for its inhabitant, but instead they lives carefreely without any rules.

What Makes Her a Baddie?[]

  • Due to Hecatia being the ruler of all Hells, the system in the Animal Realm where human spirits are enslaved by beast youkai also partially falls on her shoulders.
  • Assisted Junko in unleashing a mass terrorist attack on the Lunar Capital to destroy it and assassinate Chang'e.
  • Trapped the Lunarians and held them hostage inside the Dream Realm.
  • Attacked the heroines when they confronted her in the Extra Stage.
