“ | The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger...those who attempt to poison and destroy My brothers! And you will know My name is the LORD...when I lay my vengeance upon thee! | „ |
~ Jules, reciting his favorite Bible passage (Ezekiel 25:17) before killing Brett. |
Jules Winnfield is one of the three main protagonists of the 1994 crime film Pulp Fiction.
He initially works alongside Vincent Vega as a hitman for Marsellus Wallace, but after an epiphany, or as he refers to it "a moment of clarity", he decides to leave to "walk the earth." During the film he is stated to be from Inglewood, California.
He was portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- While still a hired gun, he's not a dimwit like his partner Vincent or a rapist like Zed and Maynard.
- His recital of Ezekiel 25:17 is very iconic as he blows away two wannabe criminals who ripped off Marsellus.
- He's very friendly, however, it's only genuine with his colleagues and boss.
- He suppresses Ringo and Yolanda's diner robbery by giving them his own $1,500.
- He never faces any punishment for his actions after retiring from the criminal underworld.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- Awesome as the apartment scene is, he's still a professional criminal who kills Brett and his partner both unarmed, and his reaction to Vincent shooting Marvin in the face is honestly equal to that of spilling Kool-Aid all over his wedding tux
