Kenny Ackerman is a major antagonist in the 2009 manga series Attack on Titan as well as of its 2013 anime adaptation, serving as the secondary antagonist of the "Royal Government" arc.
He is the uncle of Levi Ackerman and brother of Kuchel Ackerman. He is a former serial killer from the Underground of Mitras and is a Captain of the Military Police Brigade serving in the First Interior Squad, the leader of the Anti-Personnel Control Squad and an enforcer of the Royal Government and the Reiss Family. He served the monarchs Uri Reiss, Frieda Reiss, and Rod Reiss, having schemed against the latter on a near successful coup out of distaste for his cowardice and claim the Founding Titan to feel what it felt like above.
He is voiced by Kazuhiro Yamaji in Japanese and Phil Parsons in English.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- Has his own unique, quirky sense of humour, which couple to his awesome cowboy aesthetic and his general skills in using his antipersonnel 3D maneuvering gear, makes him one of the most memorable villains in the series.
- Is the elusive urban legend, "The Ripper" who is able to kill dozens of Military Police officers with nobody ever being the wiser. In his total tenure as the Ripper, Kenny took down about a hundred officers without ever getting caught.
- Tracks down the true ruler of humanity, Uri Reiss, and upon seeing his humility in apologizing for the government's persecution against the Ackerman family, pledges a genuine loyalty for Uri who he greatly respects.
- Admiring Uri and his successor, Frieda Reiss' benevolence upon gaining the Founding Titan, Kenny bid his time to claim the Founding Titan out of a desire to see what it feels like to be a good person.
- Admitting it is cruel for even him to leave his starving nephew, Levi to die, will teach him all the skills he would use to become the famed strongest warrior over humanity, and be the only being that Levi himself deemed too dangerous to face.
- Is the stealthy enforcer of the government, able to secretly check on anyone who can threaten the government or their plans and take them down.
- Upon seeing that he is tailed by fellow Magnificent Baddie, Annie Leonhart, he easily catches onto her ruse on being his illegitimate daughter.
- Launches a surprise attack on Levi that kills a huge portion of his squad and then tracks him down to a bar and making use of a nearby chair to shield a bullet to the chest
- Seeing through Levi and Erwin's attempted coup, frames the Survey Corps for Dimo Reeves' murder in order to discredit the entire organization and lure Levi's team to a trap and capture Eren Yeager & Historia Reiss for his own plans.
- Through a rousing speech captivates the entire Anti-Personnel Control Squad with his vision for meaning and earns their undying loyalty to him alone, becoming Rod's even more dangerous right-hand and secretly bidding his time on a coup that would've nearly succeeded had it not been for him learning at the last minute that he can't use the Founding Titan's power.
- Even when seeing his lifetime ambitions crumble before him, he quickly recomposes himself and frees Eren to pit him against Historia so he can lay the ground for Rod's plans to crumble out of contempt for his cowardice.
- When mortally wounded, Kenny knows he can easily use the Titan serum to turn himself into a titan and extend his life, but instead gives it to Levi and bids him a final farewell so that he can simply die in peace and no longer be a slave to ideals.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- Is a prideful serial killer that killed about a hundred Military Police officers, regardless of them being corrupt or not.
- Coldly abandons Levi to fend for himself when he was a child.
- Is the Reiss family's ruthless enforcer who would assassinate any threat to the government, be they criminal or even innocent people, for the sake of his own goals, having attempted to kill Historia when she was just a child.
- Kills Dimo Reeves and frames the Survey Corps for it to discredit them.
- Sought to eat Eren Yeager, who at the time was a hero he had no grudge against, for his ambitions.
- Attempts to pit Historia and Eren against each other on a fight to the death.
