There are no good men... only good prey.
~ Kraven stating his philosophy to Mary Jane Watson before injecting Curt Connors with the serum in order to turn him into the Lizard.

Sergei Kravinoff - better known as Kraven the Hunter - is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Venom) of the 2023 Marvel superhero game Marvel's Spider-Man 2. He is a Russian big game hunter who leads a group of international hunters that looks to kill what they deem prey around the world. Sometime prior before the events of the game, Kraven has been diagnosed with cancer. Deciding to go out on his terms, Kraven sets to New York to find someone strong enough to kill him.

He was voiced by Jim Pirri.

What Makes Him Magnificent?[]

  • He is one of the most awesome villains in the series thanks to how incredibly skilled of a hunter he is and his personality of being an intimidating fighter that manages to have a dark charisma to him over his pride as a hunter.
  • Stalks one of his hunters in the shadows for hours without him noticing,
  • Uses technology to turn his ships invisible so he can subtly launch an attack on the Raft boats transporting Mister Negative and Scorpion.
  • Shoots a fuel tank to set fire to cause an explosion to distract Miles from capturing Mister Negative.
  • Uses the invisible tech to set up hunter blinds throughout the city while keeping it hidden from the public eye.
  • Buys several properties to set up his hunter bases in then while eliminating any witnesses who may pose a threat to exposing them.
  • Ends up recreating the abilities and gear of other villains such as the Scorpion, where he managed to create not only an antidote to his poison using an incredibly expensive flower; but also recreating the Scorpion’s armor as well.
  • Ends up killing Scorpion by grabbing hold of him and stabbing him mid-attack.
  • Successfully captured and killed Electro, Vulture, and Shocker, even showing respect for the last two for putting up a good fight.
  • Nearly kills Peter by stabbing him in the stomach, and Peter would have died if not for the symbiote thus making Kraven the villain to come the closest to killing Spider-Man in the games.
  • To avoid suspicion, he kills off several witnesses that would expose him to buying several buildings to make his hideouts.
  • Was able to train a pet tiger to be his bodyguard.
  • Captures Miles and uses him as bait to lure Peter.
  • During his fight with Peter, he uses smart tactics like repeatedly hitting the bell to distress the symbiote with it and using smoke to disappear.
  • Aside from Peter and Miles, he is the only character to be able to hold his own against Venom, who can slaughter several Oscorp guards and even Kraven's fellow hunters with ease.
  • Succeeds in his goal of finding a worthy opponent strong enough to kill him in the form of Venom and thanks him for his defeat with grace by thanking Venom for killing him.
  • Although he is one of the cruelest villains in the series, he isn’t too deplorable to count for the following reasons:
    • Several other villains are more deplorable than him even within his own game such as Venom, who corrupts Peter and Harry, Scorpion, who poisons and kills people just for the sheer thrill of it and the Flame, who tries to burn down Brooklyn just to obtain a symbiote and most of the villains Kraven killed (minus the Shocker) ultimately deserved their fates for their awful deeds.
    • Nothing he does is ever done for the sake of needless sadism and is done to fulfill his goal. His capturing of several supervillains was done to find someone strong enough to kill him and his act of having his family hunt each other was done to test their worth as hunters.
    • There is more focus placed on what a skilled, powerful hunter he is than him being a cruel monster who hunts down human beings.
    • He does have a sense of honor towards his victims if they fight well. His audio tape of him detailing his fight with Shocker has him impressed with how well Shocker fought, complimenting how well Peter fights, and gives a sincere “thank you” to Venom for being able to kill him.

What Makes Him a Baddie?[]

  • Is a big game hunter who sets his goals on capturing several supervillains and hunting them, with him killing the likes of Scorpion, Vulture, Electro, and Shocker (and although the first three deserved it, Shocker did not).
  • Is shown to be willing to kill his minions if they fail him.
  • Launches an attack on the Raft, which results in a pier full of people being endangered and one of the ships sinking, risking the lives of several security guards.
  • Has his men kidnap Tombstone at a theme park, endangering the patrons.
  • Forcibly turns Curt Connors into the Lizard by injecting him with the serum, leading to him going on a massive rampage later in the game.
  • Nearly kills Spider-Man by stabbing him in the abdomen, which leads to the symbiote corrupting him and causes Harry's disease to get worse.
  • Launches a raid on the Emily-May Foundation that ends up destroying the building.
  • Makes Miles and Mister Negative fight to the death, with it being implied that Kraven made Mister Negative kill people several hunters.
  • Repeatedly harassed Sandman to trigger his giant sand form, which causes him to go on a rampage throughout Brooklyn.
  • Forces his family to hunt and kill each other, with a lot of them being unwilling to do so.
  • Kills his daughter via an explosion at a mountain, causing her to succumb to failing rocks.
  • Uses hunter talons to hunt down his brother, the Chameleon.
