Levi Ackerman serves as the tritagonist of the series Attack on Titan. He is one of the commanders of the Scouts who often leads them along with Erwin Smith and others into battles against Titans in order to protect the people of Paradis and themselves while finding out dark secrets with them along the way.
He was voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya in the Japanese sub and by Matthew Mercer and Mikaela Krantz as a child in the English dub.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- He is consistently shown to be a total badass and professional at taking out Titans, often swiftly launching himself into the air with his ODM gear before taking out their napes, sometimes taking out their eyes first to have a better advantage at taking them out, to kill them without getting so much as a single touch from them, whilst always managing to maintain a fearless demeanor throughout.
- Despite being willing to sacrifice the lives of some of his troops, he is shown to care for them and does show remorse over having to do so as he swears to a dying soldier on his life that the Titans will be eradicated and helps him die in peace, condemns the Female Titan for the good men she killed while she was trapped,
- He lures the Female Titan (Annie Leonhart) into a trap set up by orders of Erwin in the woods involving spears being launched at her to keep her still (albeit temporarily) through taking Eren with him along with other troops while having other troops come in to distract her so that she wouldn't succeed at catching up enough to get Eren.
- He manages to swiftly take down the Female Titan after she defeated and captured Eren by slashing her veins with her not being able to react in time, managing to knock her down unable to move before slicing her jaw open and rescuing Eren.
- He manages to divert Titans chasing them through having corpses of soldiers thrown out of the cart to the ground and after they all escaped, Levi tells a troop reluctant to do it that while they cannot always carry their fallen comrades home, they can carry their memory before giving him the badge of one of them to remember them by.
- After Eren takes down and defeats Annie, Levi manages to prevent him from killing her as she is their key evidence.
- He manages to get Pastor Nick to help him and the troops out with information with the help of Hange, starting off by showing him the human beings who lost everything they had due to the church abandoning them incidentally.
- He sets up a plan while in the tower he and the Scouts with him were at by telling Armin and Hange, the brains of the operation, to come up with a solution, Mikasa to protect Eren at all costs, and Eren to not screw things up before telling Eren to check his emotions and restrain himself as they can't afford another mistake.
- Upon hearing Hange and Conny's suggestion of the Titans being humans the whole time, Levi shows regret over the fact that he's really been killing humans in Titan bodies the whole time.
- He shows respect to Pastor Nick while conversing about his death with Hange and the others, acknowledging that whatever his faults, he stuck by his beliefs until the end.
- Upon receiving a letter from a troop from Pastor Nick and reading it, he tells the other troops to get their gear and move as well as to make it look like they were never there to evade troops sent by the government looking for them.
- Knowing that the government is looking for Eren and Historia, he sets up a plan with the other troops to move Eren and Historia into Trost as it would be easy to slip in with that place being in a panic and if things go wrong, they can use their weapons before having Hange lend him some of her squad while disguising Armin as Historia and Jean as Eren.
- While in Trost, he tells the ones he took with him to avoid walking clustered together as they'd stand out while telling Eren and Historia to act normal.
- He instantly deduces the intention behind "King Fritz" handing out rations to the people as it'd be easier to control people when they're not starving.
- He instantly hears a cart quietly rolling up behind them with kidnappers hired by the government and tells the others to look out as they kidnap Historia (really Armin in disguise) and Eren (really Jean in disguise).
- He was able to deduce that the kidnappers the government hired to kidnap Eren and Historia are amateurs before telling Mikasa to handle the rest of his own as he'll make his way to Eren with Mikasa successfully taking out Dimo Reeves and his men.
- He deduces something is wrong, knowing the Military Police couldn't be behind this as they're too careful to hire amateurs before suspecting that Kenny the Ripper might've been behind this and then noticing a gunshot which he tells Niva to avoid though she winds up being killed as Levi manages to dodge the bullets and then proceeds to engage in battle against Kenny who shows up, working for the government.
- He manages to outwit Kenny while in battle against him by hiding behind a table in a bar while conversing with Kenny before shooting at a chair he picked up, blowing him out of the place and allowing Levi an opportunity to escape, kill off some of the troops assisting Kenny, and return to the Scouts whom he would warn about the troops chasing them.
- He comforts Armin about killing the troop who tried to kill Jean.
- He gets Dimo Reeves on the side of the Scouts to get information on Eren and Historia by telling him that the people of Trost will have a better chance with them than without.
- He and Hange trick Sannes into giving them the information they need by having his ally Ralph read a script they made to make it look like he's betraying him.
- He sets up an ambush for Marlo and Hitch by having Armin dress up in a Scout's cloak and take water from a river so that he and Mikasa could capture them from behind and take their weapons.
- He masterminds a break-in to one of the checkpoints set up by the government in a region by having Jean, Marlo, and Hitch drive through the gate with a cart before they subdue the one in charge of the checkpoint whom Levi would interrogate since he's with the Interior Police.
- He leads an ambush on Rod Reiss' troops through having the Scouts launch explosive barrels wich they would fire at with arrows with bags of oil on them before Levi himself attacks the leader of the troops while having the Scouts shoot signal flares so that they would be difficult to see, allowing the Scouts to be able to take out the troops.
- He evades Kenny's first shot by flying below him with his ODM gear before they engage in battle, managing to pull off some clever stunts throughout like launching a bag of oil at him that Kenny ends up shooting which explodes in the air and manages to get a slash on him.
- He helps the other comrades encourage Eren to transform into an armored Titan to shield them from the flames of Rod's transformation into a Titan.
- He has an interesting backstory, having been on the brink of death when he was a child after his mother passed away and partially raised by Kenny in the Underground they lived in by training him to help him survive in the social Darwinist world, though he would be abandoned by Kenny due to him not wanting to become his parent.
- He manages to beat up and take down an adult when he was a preteen.
- He quickly stops a fight between Eren and Jean by kicking them both, resulting in them vomiting which he would have someone clean up.
- He sets up a plan with Erwin to have the latter lead the squad in a suicide charge against the Beast Titan during their battle at Shiganshina in an attempt to retake Wall Maria to keep him distracted so that Levi could take out all the Titans, which Levi succeeds at before successfully taking down the Beast Titan by slashing his eyes before slashing the rest of his body parts and then pulling Zeke out whose mouth he puts his sword into, winning the fight against him.
- He and Hange manage to convince Dhalis Zachary to permit the release of Eren and Mikasa from prison after they were imprisoned for attacking Levi to try to take the Titan serum he had when he initially refused to use it on Armin.
- He stops Porco Galliard from biting into Eren by slicing his jaw.
- He takes down and defeats Zeke once again in their rematch by swiftly slicing his nape from behind before having him taken out of Titan form and apprehended.
- He instantly escapes the ambush Zeke had set up for him through turning his troops into Titans to sic them on him by killing them albeit reluctantly before quickly catching up with Zeke, turning the tables on him and taking him down once again. Afterwards, he would cut his legs to ensure he doesn't transform into a Titan again while condemning him for the deaths he caused.
- He and some of the Scouts dress up as Marleyan citizens and go to Marley to Azumabito's place and manage to avoid getting found out as people from Paradis.
- He catches a young pickpocket who stole a purse from Sasha and when he hears the threats people are deciding on what to do with the pickpocket, he saves him by running away after trying to trick them into thinking he was the brother of Sasha, though he ends up getting his money stolen by the pickpocket albeit remaining apathetic about it.
- He decides to get out of bed and help the others despite his condition as he believes he'll be forgotten about if he lies down any longer and also wants to make Yelena tell them where Eren is going, showing himself to be a badass still.
- He gives Hange some words of encouragement before she goes out like a badass fighting the Rumbling Titans by telling her to give her heart while placing his fist onto her chest.
- He points out that Eren is using Zeke to start the Rumbling and that they would need to kill him in order to stop it.
- He attempts to convince Eren to stop the Rumbling along with the others, telling him that he'll let him get off with an ass-kicking if he stops then and there.
What Makes Him A Baddie?[]
- He can be somewhat cruel sometimes as he mocks a titan whose eyes he slit for crying in pain by calling it a crybaby and telling it to take it like a man before taking it out, admitting to the Female Titan that one thing they have in common is that they enjoy killing as Levi himself enjoys killing Titans, rhetorically asking the Female Titan if she's okay with him cutting off the limbs of the joints of her actual body as they may grow back,
- He ruthlessly assaults Eren while he is on trial for his breakdown there by brutally kicking him several times, though this was to discipline him.
- He is shown to be willing to sacrifice the lives of some troops in order to lure Annie Leonhart into the trap set up by orders of Erwin.
- He orders the corpses of killed troops that the other troops took with them to be buried back at Paradis to be thrown out in order to distract the other Titans even though this would mean that they wouldn't be able to get proper burials.
- He commits torture on Sannes with Hange in order to try to get information out of him regarding what he knows about Eren and/or Historia.
- The checkpoint he lead an attack on was manned by recruits.
- He was willing to break the bones of the one in charge of the checkpoint as he was with the corrupt Interior Police in order to get information out of him regarding Eren and Historia.
- He encourages Erwin to lead their squad into a suicide charge against the Beast Titan, resulting in them being brutally killed by the bombardments launched at them by the Titan to keep him distracted so that Levi could take down the Beast Titan.
