He was voiced by Pedro Renaday.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- Like most '80s cartoon villains, is delightfully cheesy and over-the-top.
- Sets up a trap to shoot down and steal a Soviet military jet during a test flight and escapes with it undetected.
- Using multiple props and disguises, lures the Autobots to multiple impressive traps which are:
- Using holograms of Decepticons to bait Tracks into being electrocuted and captured while also setting p another trap that traps Bumblebee inside one of his trucks.
- Sets up a fake car wash and toll booth to trap Jazz and Beachcomber respectively.
- Disguising himself as a construction worker to lower Grapple's guard and trap him in a makeshift cage.
- Setting up a fake billboard with an extendable arm to capture Blaster and trap him in his boombox alt-mode.
- Setting up a fake fire and using an animatronic of a child to lure Inferno into the burning building before capturing him.
- Using them as hostages, all the while having actually acknowledged the danger of Optimus Prime, he lures him to his castle, setting up multiple traps on the way. While Optimus does predict some of them, the number of traps Chumley has set up actually keeps Prime on his toes.
- Responds to many of the times Optimus thwarts his traps with admiration over Optimus on his hunt.
- Using a scorpion-bot, he actually comes close to killing off Prime and finishing off his grand hunt.
- Is such a fearless and tenacious trapper that he ends up earning the respect of the misanthropic Megatron and Starscream as well, with the former wanting an alliance and the latter snarking on how he did more against the Autobots in 2 days than Megatron did in 2 years.
- Even when cornered by much more powerful robots, while showing some mild fear, he does not beg for mercy at all when Astrotrain and Blitzwing turn against him after he frees them.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- By stealing the jet, Chumley is aware this brought the United States and the Soviet Union to the brink of sparking World War III but does not care.
- Holds the Autobots hostage in extreme traps that strains them on their desperate attempts to survive as long as they can.
Trivia[]
- He, alongside Nightbird, are the only Transformers MB from the original animated series.
- He is also currently the only Transformers MB to be human.
