And so I said with final breath, 150 years I'll return from death. And if the gate's still closed to town, wealthy blood will stain the ground.
~ The Lumberjack's curse.

Archibald Corduroy, also known as the Lumberjack Ghost, is a one-shot antagonist in the Disney XD animated series Gravity Falls, serving as the main antagonist of the episode "Northwest Mansion Mystery." He used to be a lumberjack who assisted the other former folks of Gravity Falls in helping Nathaniel Northwest build a mansion atop a hill for him, with the latter promising that he would throw a grand party once a year and that all would share in the bounty only for him to go back on his promise and shut them out once the work has been done, leading Archibald to swear revenge and cast a curse that he shall return 150 years later and that if the gates are still not opened, wealthy blood would stain the ground.

He was voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson.

What Makes Him Magnificent?[]

  • Within seconds of his dying moments, he was able to get the idea to concoct a curse on the Northwest family that if they did not open the gates by the time he returns 150 years later, wealthy blood would stain the ground.
  • He was able to instantly locate Pacifica and Dipper by using his ghostly powers to move the table they were underneath.
  • He used his ghostly powers to sneak up behind Pacifica very quietly in order to capture her while she and Dipper were hiding, which would've worked had it not been for Dipper.
  • After Dipper prepared to send him off after capturing him, he tricked him into lifting the mirror up high under the pretense of wanting to look at the trees one last time and then instantly took the opportunity to heaten up the mirror, causing Dipper to drop it accidentally break it, causing the Lumberjack Ghost to escape and instantly return to the Northwest Mansion to enact his revenge.
  • When Dipper tried to get him trapped in another mirror, the Lumberjack Ghost quickly foiled his attempt and outwitted him by blasting the journal out of his hand, causing him to drop the mirror as well and let his guard down, allowing the Lumberjack Ghost to turn him into wood just like the other guests in the mansion.
  • He managed to succeed in his plot to get the party gates opened for the folks of Gravity Falls through having all the people in the mansion be turned to wood before setting the mansion on fire and then having Pacifica open the gates in order for that to be undone.
  • He ends up redeeming himself once the gates are opened by Pacifica by reversing the petrification he inflicted on all the folks within the mansion, showing respect towards her for being better than her family before fading away peacefully declaring that he feels lumber justice, taking his final moments with dignity as well.
  • He has a sympathetic motive behind his actions, as Nathaniel Northwest deceived him and the old folks of Gravity Falls into building a mansion for him under the promise that a grand feast will be held and all will be welcomed, only for Nathaniel to go back on his word once the mansion had been built and shut the door on them, leading a dying Archibald to curse the Northwests that if the gates aren't open for the poor people of the town by the time he has returned, he would kill them all.
  • He has a noble objective behind his actions as besides wanting revenge on the Northwests, he also wants to make them open the gates to the folks of Gravity Falls to make them honor Nathaniel's promise and deliver justice for the old folks of Gravity Falls and allow the new folks to share and partake in the bounty.

What Makes Him A Baddie?[]

  • Upon returning from death in ghostly form through a painting, he attempted to kill Pacifica as step 1 of his plan to get revenge on the Northwests.
  • Upon escaping the mirror, he proceeded to turn everyone in the Northwest Mansion into wood, which was portrayed as an "And I Must Scream" situation, before lighting the mansion on fire with the intent of killing everyone.

Trivia[]

  • He and Stanley Pines are the only characters from Gravity Falls to be Magnificent Baddies.
