Mara-Al-Utha is a minor antagonist in the 1984 Sunbow cartoon, The Transformers, serving as the main antagonist of the Season 3 episode "Madman's Paradise". A Quintesson scientist exiled by his peers for his interest in magic to the strange realm of Melonia, Mara-Al-Utha became the Golden One's student to hone his sorcery skills. Betraying him and becoming the ruler of Melonia, Mara-El-Utha, under the guise of his rival the Red Wizard, would trick Grimlock into helping him quell a rebellion against him.
He is voiced by Corey Burton, who has also voiced Megatron & Shockwave in Transformers: Animated, Cad Bane in the Star Wars franchise and V.V. Argost in The Secret Saturdays.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- Was the Golden One's most skilled student, and then tricks his master, who was the most powerful sorcerer in all of Melonia, into being trapped inside a cave and be deprived of sunlight that fuels his power, allowing him to ascend as ruler of Melonia.
- Has the power to shapeshift to any form, using this power to disguise himself as anyone to manipulate them easily, such as the Red Wizard.
- Has kept a crushing grip against Melonia, where he would thwart any and all attempts of rebellion from massive groups of people for centuries.
- Under the guise of the Red Wizard, he would then manipulate Grimlock and Daniel Witwicky that he is a benevolent ruler and turn them against the rebellion. This was helpful for Grimlock to hold the rebellion long enough for Mara-Al-Utha to use his full power and drive them back.
- Even with the Golden One freed and the Autobots ganging up on him, Mara-Al-Utha was nearly able to defeat them all, including the Golden One who was badly weakened by Mara-Al-Utha, and he would've won had Blaster not shapeshifted into a speaker to amplify the Golden One's spell.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- An evil, unrepentant Quintesson who has conquered Melonia and enslaved it's people.
- Falsely imprisons the real Red Wizard, Daniel and the Golden One.
- Attempts to have the entire rebellion destroyed.
