Marx is a major antagonist in the Kirby franchise, serving as the main antagonist of Kirby Super Star and its remake Kirby Super Star Ultra.
He is a jester who tricks Kirby into helping him rule Popstar by summoning the Galactic Nova, stealing his wish in the process.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- He is a skilled trickster who is great at manipulation, as he makes the Sun and Moon fight, tricks Kirby into summoning Nova for him to stop their fight, steals the wish and asks to rule Popstar.
- He is one of the few Kirby Villains to actually succeed: even if he got stopped by Kirby, he still kept the new powers Nova gave him in later games. It is implied however that he already had his powers prior to his wish, with NOVA simply just amplifying them.
- He survives his defeat and comes back more powerful than ever as Marx Soul, and he survives once again after that.
- He redeems himself and helps stop worse threats like Hyness and Void Termina.
- He is laughably evil with his jester antics and his laughable yet unnerving sound effects, from his evil laugh to his screeching.
- He has two very well-acclaimed Boss fight, complimented by a great theme.
- He has various impressive powers, also being playable in Star allies and being one of the most powerful characters there.
- In Star Allies it's stated that he helps Kirby because Popstar is also his home and he wants it to be well to rule it. This shows he is at least pragmatic enough to oppose cataclysms.
What Makes Him A Baddie?[]
- Starts a war between the Sun and Moon and tricks Kirby into summoning NOVA.
- Kicks Kirby out of his way so he could wish for ownership over Popstar.
- Attempts to kill Kirby when he tries to stop Marx.
- Revives himself and tries to kill Kirby again.
- Tried to rule Popstar so he could cause as much mischief and chaos as he wants.
Trivia[]
- Due to his crystal wings, mischievous nature and psychotic insanity, he is often compared to Flandre Scarlet.
- Due to also being a deceitful purple jester, he is compared to Dimentio and Jevil.
- Marx is the only Kirby MB to have never been possessed or brainwashed. It is implied however that he was influenced by Dark Matter during the Dark Matter Trilogy, driving him insane.
- He is the only Kirby MB who hasn't been outplayed by Daroach.
