Masaru Sera is a supporting character in the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series. He is the president of the Tojo Clan's Nikkyo Consortium, as well as an ally to Kazuma Kiryu, Shintaro Kazama and Goro Majima, and would go on to be the third Chairman of the Tojo Clan. He was also a former political ally of Kyohei Jingu before Kazama helped him realise that Jingu is corrupt.

What Makes Him Magnificent?

• Stops Sagawa from killing Majima and Makoto Makimura.
• Kidnaps Makoto Makimura to prevent Sohei Dojima from getting the Empty Lot.
• Hands a gun to Goro Majima saying that if he doesn't trust him, he can shoot him, proving how honorable he is.
• Makes a deal with Majima, offeriing to save the injured Makoto who has been shot by Lao Gui, saying that when he receives the Empty Lot from her, he must give it to him instead of giving it to his boss Futoshi Shimano.
• His plan eventually succeeds as he receives the Empty Lot and becomes the next captain, and later chairman, of the Tojo Clan.
• He tells Majima not to kill Lao Gui saying that if he does, he would stoop to the same level of Lao Gui and Dojima.
• Sends a hitman when Kiryu is in jail to test him and prove to any Tojo Clan members that he is very strong and that it is not a good idea if they wanted to avenge Dojima.
• After Sera realises that his political ally Jingu is a corrupt man, he conspires with Shintaro Kazama and his adoptive daughter Yumi Sawamura to steal 10 billion yen from the Tojo Clan which is owned by Jingu. This starts the events of the first Yakuza game (as well as its remake Kiwami).
• After this, Sera knew that he was going to die, so he gave Kazama his will so he can choose who becomes his successor. This eventually leads to Kiryu being the one who is the next chairman of the Tojo Clan.
• He is then murdered by an unknown assassin, but at that point he has already sown the seeds for Jingu's downfall.

What Makes Him A Baddie?

• He is the president of the Nikkyo Consortium, the "black ops" group of the Tojo Clan, which means he has overseen many murders, including multiple Omi Alliance officers.
• Was perfectly willing to kill Yumi and Haruka before he realised Jingu was manipulating him.
