~ Master Udon revealing his plan. |
Master Udon is a minor antagonist in SpongeBob SquarePants, appearing as the main antagonist of the episode "Karate Island".
He is a con artist masquerading as a karate master. He kicks off the plot by inviting SpongeBob to his island, where he tries to trick him into a real estate scheme.
He was primarily voiced by the late Pat Morita, with some minor voice work being done by Tom Kenny, who also voiced Friend from the same show.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- He is an amusing affectionate parody of the karate master trope with him even being voiced by Pat Morita of ‘’Karate Kid’’ fame himself.
- Lures SpongeBob to his island by sending him a video tape telling him he is the king of karate and telling him to come to his island.
- Plays SpongeBob’s ego by having his henchman pretend to get easily defeated by him.
- Shows how prepared he is by having three rooms with three different henchmen to beat before you can go to his room.
- Traps Sandy by placing a cage on top of her to the point where Sandy had to use her full strength to escape.
- Manages to put up a good fight with Sandy despite not being a real karate Master.
- Recovers from his defeat to scam Squidward by making him think he is the king of clarinets.
- While tricking SpongeBob isn’t impressive, the fact that he ends up fooling Squidward implies that he is an genuinely intelligent con-man rather than a hack who only succeeds due to the stupidity of other people.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- He is a con-artist who tried to scam SpongeBob and Squidward into a real estate scheme.
- Trapped Sandy and SpongeBob on his island.
- Tried to kill Sandy when she tried to stop him.
