He was portrayed by Aidan Gillen.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- He is very charismatic thanks to a wonderful performance by Aidan Gillen, shows unfailing courtesy to both ally and enemy alike, and never loses his cool even when he is defeated and killed.
- He has some comedic moments that, while they don't detract from his heinousness, make him pretty hard to hate.
- He managed to get away with his crimes and plots for many years, without the FBI being able to do anything about him despite trying desperately to capture and arrest him for a long time.
- When lured into a trap by the FBI via Samuel being forced to let the FBI sell him out in order to set Joshua free, he pretends to let Samuel kill him and flee with the diamonds when in reality he is faking his own death and lets Samuel know that he had successfully rescued Joshua from the FBI before revealing that he secretly killed Joshua and then he kills Samuel afterwards for considering to betray him to the FBI.
- Orchestrates an escape from prison just a year after being caught, seemingly freeing several criminals before abandoning them to be sent back to prison with him being the sole escapee.
- He constantly puts the protagonist Fisher on the ropes during the 12 Rounds game that he had created, with incredibly well-crafted schemes that almost gave him victory against the hero, these include:
- Having Danny use a firetruck to get rid of a bomb inside of a safety deposit box by throwing it into a nearby lake and manages to steal the firetruck while it was being taken in for repairs.
- Letting Danny choose between saving himself and Willie, a kind yet kidnapped guard in an elevator that is about to collapse and fall dozens of flights, smashing a gas line open and forcing the nearest three blocks in the area to evacuate safely when it does so.
- Placing a well-hidden bomb under a trolley and making Danny shut down all power to the city to save all who are in the trolley before the bomb explodes.
- He is revealed to have been manipulating Fisher and the FBI during the "12 Rounds" to distract them so he could successfully steal all the money from a bank by stealing Willie's security pass to gain access to the bank, and also loading up the fire truck he stolen earlier with the money itself, which is mostly empty by the factors of the power outage and gas leak earlier, every round that Fisher played only served to help Miles push farther into his scheme.
- Knowing Molly's position as a nurse to lead the way into her hospital via bombing the outside of it to evacuate as much people as possible to bring her to the hospital's roof and get to the hospital helicopter to escape to Tahiti and get away with both the money and his crimes.
- When finally fighting with Danny who managed to sneak into the helicopter in time, he uses his surroundings inside the medical helicopter to nearly murder Danny several times with defibrillators and scalpels.
- Using one last tactic to gain an advantage by trying to let a bomb he had left inside of the helicopter to detonate and kill Danny, Molly, and himself to hopefully deny both Danny and Molly any victory.
- Some of his victims, like Samuel and Joshua, weren't entirely saints due to helping Miles with his crimes, with Samuel himself being a fellow terrorist who almost betrayed Miles by selling him to the FBI.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- He committed several pretty bad crimes before the events of the movie, like shooting Trans Atlantic Flight 213, which was filled with innocents, bombing the embassy in Frankfurt, and beheading his own brother for screwing a deal in Tangiers.
- He sold weapons to numerous terrorists across the world, one of which downed a jumbo plane filled with people when George Aiken failed to stop one of his deals years ago.
- He killed a few guards, took his prison warden as a hostage, and left those that he helped escape to be put back inside of prison, leaving himself as the only one who escaped.
- He puts the lives of many innocent people in danger just to get Fisher to play "12 Rounds". Among them include:
- He makes Fisher and the other officers go to the savings bank in New Orleans, only to show them two safety deposit boxes and reveal that he placed an explosive in one of the boxes that will kill any nearby civilians if Fisher doesn't throw it into a nearby lake in less than 7 minutes while also setting the savings bank in flames, endangering everyone inside.
- He forces Fisher to choose between saving himself or a security guard who was being held hostage named Willie in a elevator several stories up that is about to give way, Miles collapses the elevator 5 seconds earlier than he promised, leaving poor Willie to gruesomely die.
- He places a bomb on Molly's chest, which will activate if Jackson stops pressing his cell phone for 10 seconds, which will do two things; Molly's death after a 7-centimeter nail goes through her heart and 30 seconds later, a large explosion that will kill everyone on the bus.
- He places several explosives in various devices scattered around the city, forcing Fisher to choose between five numbers and if Fisher doesn't choose any number, all those devices will explode, killing many civilians.
- He sabotages the brakes of tram 907 when Fisher chose the wrong number in glee, which is going to crash and kill not only all who were inside, but any citizens that collides with the tram as well who are getting in the way, including a fair gathering.
- He activates a bomb that explodes and murders Fisher's best friend Hank Carver, and Miles' main henchman Anthony Deluso.
- He kills two security guards inside of the city mint before robbing the place clean.
- He forces Molly and her position as a nurse to get inside her hospital, murdering a few guards, and placing a gun on Molly's head to make her drive a hospital helicopter to take both her and him away from the city and into Tahiti to get away with both the money he had stolen and also all of his crimes.
- He tries killing himself, Fisher, and Molly with a bomb he had hidden inside of the helicopter within thirty seconds just to make sure that Fisher and Molly loses regardless.
