Nightbird is a one-shot antagonist in the original 1984 The Transformers series, serving as the titular main antagonist of the Season 2 episode "Enter the Nightbird". Once a non-lethal ninja bot created by Dr. Fujiyama as a means of defense, but upon the Decepticons stealing her and stripping her of Fujiyama's inhibitions, becomes one of Megatron's most competent soldiers.

What Makes Him Magnificent?[]

  • Despite her evil being only a result of the Decepticons tampering with her programming, it's not in a way where her competence only the result of how well the Decepticons were able to control her with all her impressive feats being on her own, with her final shot while giving a death glare implying she is sapient.
  • Despite her minimal personality, she compensates it with a cool aesthetic as a ninja who is a juggernaut of a fighter that can easily fight and defeat through any and all Autobots, even Optimus Prime himself, that even them ganging up on Nightbird wasn't enough to guarantee a victory, and being so competent she earns respect from even Megatron. This led to Nightbird to become a popular character and still sell toys despite only appearing in just one episode.
  • Upon reprogrammed to serve the Decepticons, she evades Teletraan-1's security systems and infiltrate the Ark and steal the World Energy Chip in the Autobots' possession, only detected when Mirage discovers her by chance, yet manages to defeat any and all Autobots sent to defeat her and escape with the chip.
  • When the Autobots track Nightbird to the desert, she feigns being stunned by Optimus' stun ray to lure Autobots to a trap and then attack them when they least expected it, even managing to take away Optimus' rifle.
  • Even as the Autobots decide to confront her at a canyon, Nightbird still holds her own despite being vastly outnumbered where she disables many of the Autobots' weapons, one impressive feat being to throwing Bluestreak's missile to block Cliffjumper's blaster before he can launch glass gas. The Autobots were only able to defeat her due to using an electroshock prison, and when Megatron frees her, due to Starscream shooting at her out of jealousy of her competence.

What Makes Him a Baddie?[]

  • Steals the world Energy Chip and tries to give it to the Decepticons in their mad ambitions of conquering the universe.
  • Tries to kill any and all Autobots who stand in her way of such objective.
