The One-Eyed Wizard is the main antagonist of the book Rowley Jefferson's Awesome Friendly Adventure, the second book in the Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid created by Jeff Kinney.
He is the younger brother to Santa Claus who was forced to represent Flag Day while Santa got to represent Christmas. After injuring himself with a flag, he decides to get revenge on Santa Claus.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- He was smart enough to attack Santa at his ice fortress where he would be alone rather than at the North pole where he would be guarded by elves.
- He spent several years looking for somebody that was pure of heart in order to open the secret entrance at the ice fortress.
- When he discovers the pure of heart person known as Roland, he summons a snowstorm in his village which causes Roland's mom to head to the store to get a shovel. Taking advantage of this, he hypnotizes Roland's neighbor to tell him that the White Warlock kidnapped Roland's mom which kickstarted Roland's quest to find his mom.
- When he and Roland cross paths, he helps fuel his fear of the White Warlock by telling him that he plans on marrying his mom and that once the Warlock marries his man, he will become Roland's dad and force him to play catch with him.
- Although this was likely him being Faux Affably Evil, he unfreezes everyone Medusa turned into a statue and pretends to be everyone's ally.
- He summons a magical hand named Lefty which helps everyone out several times in situations like stopping a boulder throwing ogre, saving the team from falling to their deaths, and picking up everyone and crossing a lava river.
- When he gets into an argument with Sherlock Holmes, he brings up a good point over how the great detective could predict that Shae'Vana was a theft.
- When the team finally arrives at the Ice Fortress, The One-Eyed Wizard fights Santa and shows himself to be very competent at fighting as he almost wins and is only stopped by Shae'Vana, which he could predict would attack.
- When everyone gets distracted, he slips out of his robe and fights in his underwear and while he misses when firing fire balls at everyone, he summons another magical hand named Righty to scoop everyone up. This two moments show he can think on his feet.
- Almost kills the team with Righty and is only stopped by Roland's mom, which he couldn't have known she would attack. Even then, he still tries to attack her and is stopped by Roland throwing his magical sword that has the power to turn bad guys good towards him.
- Although his motive is pretty petty, it doesn't disqualify him due to the lightheartedness of the story, the implication that Santa wasn't a kind brother to him growing up, and that his pettiness is overshadowed by his manipulations and competence.
- While him being slipping out of his clothes to return fighting may seem humiliating on paper, the story doesn’t put much focus on it and the moment he slips out is treated instead as him coming close to victory.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- Started a snowstorm in Roland's village and brainwashed Roland's neighbor.
- Tried to get revenge on Santa by manipulating Roland.
- Tried to kill Santa and the heroes.
