~ Onslaught calling Starscream out for his incompetence as leader of the Decepticons |
Onslaught is a major antagonist in both the 2012 third-person shooter, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron and it's 2014 prequel, Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark. He is the leader of the Combaticons, who if they all combine, form onto Bruticus, one of the most competent Decepticons under Megatron's leadership who Onslaught dedicates wholeheartedly to, while holding his successor, Starscream, in contempt for his general incompetence.
He is voiced by Travis Willingham.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- Adapts to all of the Autobots' numerous tactics to oppose his escort of Shockwave and the Dark Spark to Kaon, thwarting every last attempt through his tactical thinking.
- Formulates an impressive plan to lure an Autobot freighter containing Energon to an ambush led by Starscream. While Starscream too planned the heist alongside him, Starscream is too stuck on his ego to know how to actually execute the plan while Onslaught keeps him on check. He is the one who guides the Combaticons for each step of the plan to work, which is either having Swindle take down any Autobot scouts who could give the Decepticons away, or having Brawl, Blast Off and Vortex tear down a bridge which will force the freighter to divert away from the main road and onto an ambush led by Starscream.
- Upon being informed that the freighter has anti-air guns, Onslaught informs Starscream to stand out and have the ambush be from the ground. When Starscream refuses to listen, foils the entire plan and orders the Combaticons to retreat, Onslaught remains persistent and refuses the order.
- Has Swindle destroy the anti-air guns, guiding him even when the freighter becomes a ship that is now airborne, granting Onslaught and the Combaticons an opening to come in from a drop ship and combine to form Bruticus to break into the freighter's control room and hijack it.
- While the freighter sustained heavy damage and is now crashing, onslaught has the situation controlled enough to salvage half the Energon from the crash.
- When Starscream gloats about their failure in getting all the Energon, Onslaught defiantly calls Starscream out for his incompetence as leader, and rightly pointing it out that by disobeying Starscream's orders, the Decepticons were able to even claim Energon from the Autobots. All in all, Onslaught's failure still ended up being the biggest win the Decepticons had under Starscream's brief respite as leader.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- Is a firm supporter over the vicious Decepticon cause, killing many Autobots all the way to ensure the Decepticons succeed, especially when he combines with the other Combaticons to form Bruticus.
- Attacks an Autobot Energon freighter to raid it, claiming more Autobot lives.
- Attacks the Ark to help Megatron destroy the ship and strand and/or kill the Autobots.
Trivia[]
- He is the only Magnificent Baddie from the Transformers "Aligned" continuity to exclusively count in the Cybertron games.
