What makes him magnificent?[]
- He is a very hammy and charming character, and is very enjoyable to watch as he is a master of disguises as he sneaks around London looking for letters for a code to reveal treasure owned by the Flying Swan. Also helped by being played by the wonderful Hugh Grant.
- He manages to fool everyone into believing that Paddington is a thief, when in actuality he is the true culprit. He even asks the judge at Paddington's trial to show mercy while making a big show out of not wanting to accuse him.
- He unexpectedly turns out to be a skilled fighter and swordsman due to years of stage combat training.
- He hilariously shuts down Mrs. Bird's attempt to hold him at gunpoint by recognising the gun as a fake that fires plastic darts.
- After his defeat and arrest, he is seen spreading his love for theatre and he performs a number with his fellow cellmates.
