NOTE: This article focuses specifically on Raymond Sullivan's original version of Dead Rising 2 as the Off The Record version was not yet considered a Magnificent Baddie and therefore, only the actions he committed in the original Dead Rising 2 should be included.

Raymond Sullivan is the secondary antagonist of the video game Dead Rising 2, the second game within the Dead Rising franchise. At first, he appears to be a helpful ally of Chuck Greene, his daughter, Katey Greene, Rebecca Chang, and Stacey Forsythe with the intentions to help them find the real culprit behind the outbreak in Fortune City and clear Chuck's name, though it later gets revealed that Raymond was an agent working for Phenotrans, the real culprit behind the outbreak as well as the one in Las Vegas, and that he has been helping them cause them the whole time.

He was voiced by Phil Hayes.

What Makes Him Magnificent?[]

  • He managed to help Phenotrans pull off plans to start breakouts, namely one in Las Vegas, without getting caught.
  • He sets up a well laid out plan to start a breakout in Fortune City by hiring Tyrone King to get it infected while getting Chuck Greene, a contestant in TK's reality show Terror is Reality, incriminated for activating it.
  • He spends a majority of the game successfully manipulating Chuck Greene, Katey Greene, Rebecca Chang, and Stacey Forsythe into thinking that he is on their side and is assisting them in finding the real culprit behind starting the game, essentially playing them for fools while remaining undercover as a Phenotrans member, allowing them to pull off stunts like unleashing a gas to make zombies stronger and managing to get away with allowing TK to escape by lying about being knocked unconscious while watching him.
  • He successfully foils Rebecca's attempt at informing the news station about the evidence revealing Phenotrans was behind the outbreak the whole time by shooting her in the head with his gun.
  • When Stacey Forsythe knocks the gun out of his hand before he could kill Chuck and his daughter, he manages to stop her second attack by grabbing it and hitting her with the bottom of the baseball bat, knocking her to the ground before escaping the room with the evidence revealing Phenotrans as the mastermind.
  • He reveals a noble objective behind his actions to Chuck Greene when confronted for his actions, telling him that his and Phenotrans' reasons for starting outbreaks are so that they could take advantage of the effects to make more Zombrex in order to be able to save people like doctors, politicians, CEOs, etc. in order to ensure their country's way of life.
  • He shows some disgust towards TK for looting the city while taking advantage of the outbreak, declaring that he went off the rails and was well paid for his part and just got greedy and that that was his work not his or Phenotrans'.
  • He puts up a good fight with Chuck in his boss battle, shooting bullets at him throughout and can wind up landing direct hits on him on the top.
  • He manages to momentarily get the upper hand in the battle between him and Chuck due to the AC-130 shooting at Chuck, allowing Raymond to rise and prepare his getaway though in one of the endings, Chuck regains the upper hand by hooking the belt around his waist for the skyhook to a nearby rail, causing Raymond to be torn in half.
  • He manages to win in a few endings, outright getting away with his actions in one by setting up the sky hook for him to be taken away by the AC-130 which could wind up being successful and killing all the survivors in the bunker in another due to the firebomb.
  • While his death can be perceived as somewhat undignifying, multiple other Dead Rising bosses have received far more humiliating deaths to the point of where his looks dignifying in comparison and he at least manages to make some form of a posthumous recovery by managing to have gotten the evidence incriminating Phenotrans away from Chuck.

What Makes Him A Baddie?[]

  • He assisted Phenotrans in starting outbreaks, namely one in Las Vegas which ended up getting the main protagonist Chuck Greene's wife killed along with thousands of others.
  • He had TK start another outbreak in Fortune City by getting its people infected, getting lots of more people killed whilst framing Chuck for this act in the aftermath.
  • He shoots Rebecca Chang in the head with a gun, killing her once she attempts to contact her station to reveal to them about Phenotrans being responsible for the outbreak.
  • He attempts to kill Chuck Greene and his daughter while revealing to them about the firebombing that is set up to get rid of their bodies along with the survivors' and then telling them that he is going to enjoy this only to be foiled by Stacey who knocks his gun away with a baseball bat and then gets knocked to the ground by Raymond Sullivan, who escapes the room with the evidence incriminating Phenotrans.
  • He reveals to Chuck that he and Phenotrans are going to start another outbreak(s) after getting away with the outbreak they started in Fortune City.
  • He attempts to kill Chuck in order to get him out of the way.
  • Depending on the ending, he can get away entirely with the evidence alive and get the survivors killed with the firebombing.

Trivia[]

  • Only the original version of Raymond Sullivan from Dead Rising 2 qualifies as a Magnificent Baddie as the version of him in Off the Record is a heroic character who does nothing villainous and therefore isn't enough of a baddie there.
