Radical Emmett Xtreme Machete Ninja Star Dangervest, more simply known as Rex Dangervest, is the main antagonist of the 2019 computer-animated film The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part.
He is Emmet's future self from another dimension that wants to bring Armamageddon to the LEGO universe after seemingly being betrayed by his friends.
Just like his original counterpart, he was voiced by Chris Pratt.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- He's tragic, as he ended up trapped under a clothes dryer when searching for his friends and was not rescued by them, which is played for sympathy.
- It is even shown he saw his friends move on with their lives while he was trapped, making him embittered.
- He is shown to be very charismatic and manipulative towards Emmet when toughening him up and tricked him into starting Armamageddon.
- He is a very skilled "master-breaker".
- He has a very epic performance by Chris Pratt, which even references his other roles.
- He is shown to care about his raptors, evidenced by the scene when he yells their names as he sees them get taken away by the Plantimals.
- He has some comedic moments to help that help the audience stay entertained, even when he's evil.
- He has a fight against Emmet that is played for laughs.
- Him punching the sapient heart is played dramatically has dramatic music...only to cut to outside the dryer where a small explosion is seen and the music stops.
- During his death, he references Back to the Future and calls it "a classic movie older kids get to watch".
- His last words are to again express regret at not trademarking the phrase "no regrets".
- The entire fact that the Armamageddon is a pun on "Our Mama gets in" is played for laughs.
- In fact, his character as a whole is pretty much a parody of character Chris Pratt has played.
- He tells Emmet to always be upbeat and accepted his fate of being erased from existence, and is eventually happy that things work out for Emmet and Lucy.
- He isn't too heinous as his Armamageddon attempt is fridge horror as the LEGO's would be put away for at least a while and not forever and it wasn't painful in the slightest.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- After seeing his friends go on without him after being stuck under a clothes dryer, he got angry and decided to go back in time to cause the Armamageddon.
- While he saved Emmet, it is merely to make sure that the Armamageddon occurs.
- Told Emmet that the citizens of the Systar System are brainwashed and convinced him to run away from them.
- When Lucy revealed her true hair, he tried to convince Emmet that Lucy is brainwashed.
- Convinced Emmet to destroy the cake to end Batman and Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi's marriage.
- As a result of his manipulations, Emmet did not listen to Lucy's message about the Systarians.
- Due to all of this, Emmet successfully destroyed the cake, resulting in Armamageddon, where the LEGO Universe is destroyed and the citizens are placed in the Bin of Storaj.
- Put Emmet under the clothes dryer to turn him evil and make Rex continue to exist.
- He tried to destroy Emmet.
- When Lucy escaped from the Bin of Storaj, Rex tried to go back in time to make sure his Armamageddon goes just right.
- Tried to destroy Lucy but punched a sentient heart by mistake, which contrary to his plans, resulted in the time machine remote being broken and caused Rex to disappear.
