Rita Malone is the deuteragonist of Dreamworks' 13th full-length animated feature film Flushed Away, which is also Aardman's third feature film. She is Roddy's love interest.
She was voiced by Kate Winslet.
What Makes Her Magnificent?[]
- She hid her ship in a clever way from the Toad's henchmen while they were looking for her as she hid it behind the sails which were covering it by camouflaging it to the brick wall behind her and Roddy and likely would not have been found had it not been for Roddy accidentally honking the horn on the ship and alerting the henchmen to where she is.
- She is shown to be skilled in combat as shown by how she was able to beat some of the henchmen the Toad sent to get the ruby she stole from him back in fights and was only stopped by Whitey, who was too strong for her to be able to fight off.
- She manages to unlock the cuffs the Toad put her and Roddy in with a paper clip that Roddy took out of her pocket to give to her and was able to escape the freezer with Roddy's help by quickly unscrewing the lid covering them and tricking Spike and Whitey into falling in and getting themselves frozen instead right before the Toad pushed the button to try to freeze them before taking back the ruby from the Toad.
- She has displayed moments where she can be capable of using her surroundings to her advantage as shown when she pulled off the cable to the Toad's machine and uses it to escape him and his henchmen on a wire.
- She is shown to have some athletic aspects to her like when she landed on her feet when falling off from the wiring she was riding across and when she gets down from the pipe to the ground by landing on various objects adeptly before landing to the floor.
- She manages to get back on the ship after Roddy stole it from her after misinterpreting the private conversation she had with her father and brother which he overheard as her attempting to sell him out to the Toad by stealthily sneaking back onto it.
- She successfully outsmarts the Toad's henchmen in a chase scene by getting one of them stuck in purple custard that she squirted using one of the machines on her boat, tricks one into landing into a balloon and then bouncing onto one of the other henchmen (this one was technically more on Roddy though she did contribute to the stunt so I figured this was worth mentioning), and getting Spike off her boat by speeding it up to the point where the wire Spike was tied to yanked him out of the boat and sent him flying in the air quite literally screaming like a girl and hitting two iron pipes and sliding on another one while getting parts of his body hurt from the parts on the pipes and into the boat, causing it to create a hole and get the boat he was in with Whitey sunk.
- She manages to outsmart Le Frog's henchmen by getting their tongues stuck on one of the roots sticking out in the sewers after they foolishly tried to catch a fly with their tongues and got themselves tongue-tied thanks to Roddy, getting them off the boat.
- She manages to counter some of the moves Le Frog throws in the fight she had with him on the boat by briefly knocking him down when he attacked, catching his tongue, and zipping him up and then after he causes the boat she was on with Roddy to fall into the sewer waters, she nibbles the ropes to open a parachute so that she and Roddy could fly up into the air and manages to take the cable back from Le Frog right under his nose.
- After Roddy outsmarts the Toad's henchmen by getting one of them frozen, causing two of them (including the frozen one) to slip and fall off the wall, and caused another one to slip on the ice, Rita outsmarts Le Frog's henchmen by freezing them with the nitrogen hose.
- She tricks the Toad into getting his foot frozen on a hole in the nitrogen pipe by provoking him with an insult prompting him to make one step forward onto said whole.
What Makes Her A Baddie[]
- She lies to the Toad's henchmen about Roddy stealing her ruby and somewhat frames him as an international thief, nearly getting him killed by Spike nearly crushing his head with a nutcracker in which she does nothing to stop even though she could have just revealed where it really was or let them know that he is not involved with this.
- She attempts to leave Roddy behind at the hands of the Toad's henchmen while escaping on a master cable while sliding on a wire though he would hop onto her to escape as well.
