A girl did die in that room I suppose... The young me.
~ Ms. Collins revealing herself as Sandie; her most famous quote.
You have to let go of the past. You can't save me! Go save yourself, save the boy. Go!
~ Sandie’s final words while telling Ellie to leave before allowing herself to die by staying in her burning home.

Alexandra "Sandie" Collins is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Jack) of the 2021 psychological horror film Last Night in Soho.

She was a young singer in the 1960s taken in by the charismatic Jack. However due to the abuse and mistreatment she faced by him as well as many other men in her life she went on a killing spree in a fit of fury and vengeance against all of her abusers. In the present day she is a landlady who takes in a fashion student named Ellie who curiously begins seeing visions depicting Sandie's past with Jack.

She was portrayed by Anya Taylor-Joy, while her older self was portrayed by the late Diana Rigg in her final film appearance.

What Makes Her Magnificent?[]

  • Sandie successfully pulls off numerous killings and gets away with them scot-free while still having a perfectly understandable motivation behind her actions.
  • She proves herself to be remarkably intelligent and charismatic through her pulling off of said killings and through her use of femme fatale style tactics.
  • In the present Sandie is also depicted as such due to her retaining many sympathetic and tragic qualities while also exhibiting noble traits such as care for Eloise's health, sympathy for her struggles and attempted intervention when she thinks Eloise is being taken advantage of.
  • Even when she's trying to kill Eloise she apologizes for what she's doing since she does genuinely like her and tries to comfort her by explaining she'll die peacefully. Finally when she allows herself to die the last thing she tells Eloise is to save herself and John and is legitimately remorseful for her actions against them.
  • The vision Eloise has of Sandie's spirit shows us how in death she seemingly found peace and was now happy and cares enough for Eloise to still visit her, knowing that she's capable of seeing her spirit.

What Makes Her a Baddie?[]

  • While her motivation for doing so was understandable the sheer number of people Sandie killed and how gruesome such killings are can't be ignored.
  • Her treatment of John and the multiple stabbings she subjects him to in the climax are also particularly nasty.
  • Even though she was apologetic for it her attempted killing of Eloise still would count as such, especially when she chased her upstairs and repeatedly slashed and cut at her arms which was grusome.
