Shoot, girl, but know this… the moment you pull the trigger, there’s no going back. You will be my enemy.
~ Scar to Winry Rockbell as she attempts to shoot him for killing her parents.

Scar is a major character in the anime and manga series Fullmetal Alchemist. He was a warrior monk and survivor of the Ishvalan Genocide, which fuelled his quest for vengeance against the Amestrian government, becoming a serial killer of state alchemists.

He was voiced by Kenta Miyake and J. Michael Tatum.

What Makes Him Magnificent?[]

  • Despite lagging behind in terms of book smarts and alchemy (for the most part) and being an enemy to both Amestris (at first) and the Homunculi, he still manages to kill thirteen State Alchemists and nearly kills Ed twice throughout the story with a deadly combination of his speed, fighting skills, and knowing the right time to strike and when to quit. His favorite method of doing the latter is to deconstruct nearby matter around him to create an escape path...which usually works.
  • After entering Shou Tucker, he killed him in cold blood giving him the well-deserved karma while feeling bad for Nina tucker and giving her a mercy kill so she won't live a fate worse than death anymore.
  • For an offensive example, when he was too far to attack Kimblee, he grabbed a damaged rebar nearby and threw it to skewer his lower stomach, coming close to kill him.
  • Finally, Scar is able to comprehend his brother's complex and advanced alchemical texts enough to eventually create the tattoos to unlock the use of reconstruction - the third step, allowing him to stand against King Bradley and eventually complete the transmutation circle that helped the heroes defeat Father (among many, many other factors, but it counts!).

What Makes Him A Baddie?[]

  • He murders Winry's parents in a fit of blind vengeance because they were Amestrians.
  • Aside from the State Alchemists he killed, he murdered two guards who were posted up before Tucker's house and is even willing to kill Ed, a child who had nothing to do with the war.
  • He shows zero concern about the bystanders during their second fight, and doesn't hesitate to permanently disfigure Marcoh with his powers.
  • Even before his Heel–Face Turn, he was pretty much the lightest shade of black compared to the Homunculi, Tucker, or the Gold-Toothed Doctor.

Trivia[]

  • He is currently one of the two Fullmetal Alchemist characters (alongside Solf J. Kimblee) to be approved as Magnificent Baddie.
