~ Sherlock Holmes blurting out his skewed moral compass |
“ | After all this, I still can't definitively prove you are the Lord of Crime. I was always a step behind you, trapped dancing in the palm of your hand. Still though, it's not as though that means I'm completely devoid of free will. You never expected me to kill Milverton. Don't expect everyone to conform to your whims, least of all me. The game's afoot and there is no going back Liam. I swear I will unravel your tangled web and apprehend you my own way. | „ |
~ Sherlock to William after killing Milverton |
Sherlock Holmes is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Louis James Moriarty) of the 2016 manga series, Moriarty the Patriot, and of its 2020 anime adaptation. Like all other incarnations, Sherlock Holmes is a private detective and one of the best of the field, with no clue too subtle for Sherlock to catch. Upon being faced by the mystery of the Lord of Crime, Sherlock sets out to find the proof to connect him to William James Moriarty, and even make his supposed enemy his greatest friend.
He is voiced by Makoto Furukawa in Japanese and by Theo Devaney in the English dub.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- Even with what all shady means Sherlock will use and how anti-heroic he is overall, Sherlock is going to ensure that such means won't be costing innocent lives and whenever push comes to shove, will do the right thing, in which Sherlock is overall much less evil than William and his criminal associates, and especially the incredibly cruel corrupt aristocrats both of them are pitted against, with many of them such as Charles Augustus Milverton being Pure Evil villains.
- Is the only person to ever be able to rival the intelligence of William and be his intellectual equal, having deduced that William was the Lord of Crime before their second meeting on the train and prove to William that he may be William's pawn at times, he still cannot take full control over Sherlock and Sherlock will always get one at him back.
- Is one of the world's greatest detectives, and for very good reason. Sherlock is always available to solve a case that not even Scotland Yard could solve, cracking the cases as if they were nothing because Sherlock is able to pick up even the most subtlest of clues. This is demonstrated numerous times when Sherlock is framed for Count Drebber's murder and has the true culprit arrested as well as expose Drebber's revolting crimes to the public, to even figuring out the real mastermind behind the Jack the Ripper murders being a cult aiming to cause civil unrest across Britain as well as Milverton's hand on the deaths of the Whitely household and MP Adam Whitely's eventual death.
- Upon catching onto Irene Adler's real character, he sees through her ruse as the King of Bohemia to get protection from being around Sherlock, he sets up an explosion over his flat to bait Adler into revealing the government documents she stole, glorious one-upping her after the numerous times she deceived Sherlock.
- Upon finding out Adler's life is in danger as the government will want to kill her, Sherlock tracks her down to her meeting with the Lord of Crime and has the Lord of Crime guarantee her safety by receiving an envelop with his name. When Alder was legally pronounced dead, Sherlock catches onto Adler's clues to realize that she is still alive.
- When Milverton makes an attempt to manipulate Sherlock and William into turning one another, Sherlock calls Milverton's bluff when he notices he words it in such a way that he no longer has the evidence to blackmail Mary, drilling into him that he is no longer in control over the situation and inflicts glorious karma killing him as he flees out of contempt for the numerous lives he ruined for fun.
- Upon catching onto William's clues for their final confrontation, Sherlock refuses to kill William and tries to convince him to live and atone for his crimes, even jumping onto River Thames to save him. When William awakens, he takes Sherlock's advice to heart and no longer has any suicidal desires.
- Masterminds the town of Vermissa's resistance against the Scrowrers and take down their army of a hundred thugs. The most impressive tactic used is setting up a trap by digging a trench, forcing the men to fight Sherlock one-on-one together, allowing Sherlock to easily take many of them down at once.
- Disguising himself as an old man, he plants clues to help MI6 catch a traitor wanting to provoke war between England and France as well as track down Sebastian Moran, making a surprise appearance to the party to throw Sebastian Moran offguard in his plot to assassinate the corrupt Lord Balmoral.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- Is frequently willing to use shady means to solve the crime as in his words, he also has a talent for crime. He would steal evidence from the crime scenes to keep them all to himself, he would withhold details of the story and other evidence all to himself and lie to the police to get his way to solve crime, and is even willing to resort to murder.
- He is willing to endanger the lives of others, even his allies, be it by having his flat blown up to trick Irene or even subtly tricking a creepy man into nearly assaulting Miss Hudson to test John's ethics, a move John even chastises him for.
- When Lestrade comes to request Sherlock to solve the Jack the Ripper murders to stop more deaths from occurring, Sherlock bluntly refuses the case despite knowing what is at risk.
