Silencer is the main antagonist of the Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir episode of the same name. He is the akumatized form of Luka Couffaine, the now ex-boyfriend of the series' main protagonist Marinette Dupain-Cheng. After Bob Roth plagiarized the music video of the band that him, Marinette and their friends are in, Luka and Marinette go and confront Bob and his son XY, with the former insulting Marinette, causing Luka to get angry and thus make Hawk Moth able to akumatize him.
He was voiced by Gauthier Battoue in French and, in English, he was voiced by Andrew Russell.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- He's a genuine sympathetic well-intentioned extremist, since his main goal, even above getting Ladybug and Cat Noir's miraculouses, is getting revenge on Bob Roth after he plagiarized Kitty Section, the band that him, Marinette and their friends are in, and their music video. Since Bob Roth is a greedy scumbag with no redeeming qualities whatsoever, watching the suave, charming Silencer try and manipulate Bob into telling the truth is pretty entertaining.
- Even as a villain, he's still genuinely affable and charming to Marinette, even confessing that he's in love with her.
- Using the voice of the Mayor of Paris that he stole, he's able to manipulate the policeman Roger Raincomprix into arresting Bob Roth and bring him to SIlencer. After this, he thanks Roger and then steals his voice.
- After manipulating Bob Roth into telling the truth on live TV, he almost sets up an interview using the voice of the TV Presenter Alec, before Ladybug and Cat Noir come and interrupt him.
- While Ladybug did outwit him by tricking him into saying the words Lucky Charm using her voice, her plan was a gamble on her part and it's moreso that she got lucky. Plus, right afterwards Silencer becomes very close to stealing Cat Noir's voice and thus winning, before Ladybug interferes with her Lucky Charm.
- After his akuma is captured and purified, Bob Roth comes in and starts mocking Luka for being akumatized, and then goes on a rant about how he won't reveal the truth about his plagiarism to the public... only for it to be revealed that Cat Noir was filming him all along, which makes Bob give Kitty Section a contract and able to play a song at the end of the show, in attempt to save himself from being boycotted by the public. This means Silencer's goal was eventually fulfilled, albeit technically posthumously.
What Makes Him A Baddie?[]
- He stole the voice of multiple people, including Ladybug's.
- He attempted to defeat Ladybug and Cat Noir, and helped Hawk Moth.
- He blackmailed Bob Roth into telling the truth by threatening to use the voices he stole to ruin Bob's reputation, although this is understandable as Bob is a greedy and corrupt man who plagiarised his friend's work.
