~ Swindle's final words in the show as he gets away with his crimes. |
Swindle is a recurring antagonist in the 2007 animated series, Transformers: Animated, serving as the main antagonists of the episodes "Society: of Ultimate Villainy" and also of "Decepticon Air". He is the fast-talking, smooth-walking arms dealer that plays the Decepticons and Autobots for money, who has a vast array of weapons.
He was voiced by the late Fred Willard.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- He is genuinely affable, being very polite and genuinely friendly to his customers and never forgetting deals with anybody and always recalling their deals while suggesting to visit their places and talkin good of it, and talking to friends and enemies alike with charm and swagger.
- He efficiently plays the Autobots and Decepticons to make money. A shining example is in the tie-in comics, when he pits Lugnut and Bltizwing against each other after seeing an argument between them and causing them to have a war of their own, while he sells them weapons.
- When they realize he played them and exact their revenge by comedically disfiguring him into a ball, Swindle however takes this defeat with great stride and grace, just stating that the customer is always right and held no grudges.
- He plays the Society of Ultimate Villainy like fiddles, helping them get away from the police after they rob a bank and giving them the technology he needs to build his weapon.
- When Slo-Mo tries to blast him when he attempted to take her time-slowing watch, Swindle uses his weapons arsenal effectively, using a forcefield he got from the Vok to shield himself and take the watch with ease.
- He has a weapon in handy for everyone thanks to him having a personal storage dimension.
- He shows himself to be a great builder, assembling a powerful EMP weapon on his own, which was so good that Megatron was interested in buying it had it not been destroyed.
- While briefly losing composure and screams "NOOO!" when Sari overloads the EMP device, he quickly regains composure by taking Slo-Mo's watch and comes very close to defeating the Autobots, losing only because Bumblebee from his perspective, out of nowhere, uses his forcefield to shield them.
- Upon his freedom from his fate worse than death, Swindle quickly stages a prison breakout, freeing the other Decepticon Prisoners in Sentinel's ship and rallying them to his command and leads a successful hijacking operation, leading the Decepticons to take over the ship.
- Spares Sentinel Prime, Jazz, Jetfire and Jetstorm as he knows the value of their parts, in which he can profit greatly from Elite Guard spare parts, and that they can be perfect bargaining chips too.
- Upon being placed in guard duty and seeing the perfect opportunity, Swindle wastes no time amassing how much weapons he can before escaping the ship, getting away with his crimes.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- Creates an EMP device that would trap the Autobots and all technological life hit, in a fate worse than death, freezing them forever yet allowing them to be aware of their surrounding but are unable to move.
