“ | I WANTED TO GIVE YOU A TEST. YOUR FINAL TEST. I WANTED TO SEE JUST HOW MUCH YOU LEARNED FROM ALL THOSE EXPERIENCES, HENRY. I WANTED TO SEE JUST WHAT YOU COULD ACCOMPLISH ON YOUR OWN, IF YOU WERE FORCED INTO AN UNFORTUNATE SITUATION WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO REWIND TIME AS YOUR CRUTCH. WOULD YOU RISE TO THE CHALLENGE, AND TURN SUCH A SITUATION TO YOUR FAVOR? OR WOULD YOU PROVE YOURSELF HOPELESS AND USELESS WITHOUT THE AID OF A DEITY TO AID YOU? | „ |
~ The Entity's ending monologue. |
The Entity is the main antagonist of the Henry Stickmin fanfiction Burdens of a Timeline Traveler.
They are a malovolent deity who took interest in Henry and the potential paths his life could go down as long as he doesn't die before his journay can even properly begin. As a way to assure he could accomplish he realistically could, he goaded Henry into a pact that would allow him to reset time at his will. However, after becoming dissatisfied with how Henry tried to stay in one of the good endings that The Entity himself had essentially carried him too, he sabotaged his good endings before forcing him to pick one out of the three worst timelines as his permanent residence, which leads to the events of the story.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- He manipulated Henry Stickmin into signing a pact that would allow him to rest time at his will, with him doing so by warning Henry of how the shovel option would end in his death, and once this was proven correct, Henry agreed to it, giving him full control over the thief and allowing him to control his life going forward.
- Despite how sadistic and heinous The Entity is, he ultimately manages to balance it out thanks his his genuine standards, his honor, and the respect he gains for Henry at the end of the story. With all of his actions serving a larger purpose as opposed to simply doing it because he enjoyed seeing Henry suffer.
- Ultimately, after forcing Henry to go through every route that The Entity set for him, he proceeded to put him through one final test where he would pick one out of the three worst timelines he created for him as his permanent residence in order to see if Henry could use his knowledge to create the best timeline he could. Something that he would ultimately succeed in at the end, earning The Entity's respect and passing his test with flying colors.
- Despite being incredibly arrogant and clearly viewing himself above humanity, he is still able to take losses with dignity, such as when he lost the game of poker against Henry, and despite his initial shock, ultimately accepted his defeat and even congradulated Henry for his win, saying that he "earned it".
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- He manipulated Henry into a pact where he was free to use him as his puppet, allowing him to reset time under the condition that he would accomplish every path given to him, which also included the ones where he was a villain, making The Entity directly responsible for all of Henry's heinous acts, some of which were even enough to pass the baseline standards.
- Becoming frustrated at Henry's attempts to stay in one of the good endings that The Entity created for him. He proceeded to sabotage said endings, causing them to end in tragedy as well as the deaths of his allies before ultimately forcing him into a sadistic choice where he would have to stay in one out of the three worst endings that was set for him. These said actions caused Henry to become far more jaded and less action heavy, with the story even stating that The Entity had essentially beaten that part out of him.
