The RED Spy, later known as the Mask, is the titular anti-heroic protagonist of MisterMisteroO's Garry's Mod video The Mask.
An alternative version of Team Fortress 2's suave mercenary, the Spy, as well as a parody of the titular character of the 1994 film adaptation of The Mask, he is granted incredible, cartoony powers by a green Oni mask he is given in a seemingly unfair cosmetic trade and uses his new abilities to singlehandedly defeat the enemy team.
He is given voicelines from the original Spy, who was voiced by Dennis Bateman.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- He has both the style of the Spy and the bombastic, laughable charisma of Jim Carrey's Mask, and the trickery of both, making a perfect combination of both's magnificence.
- While initially a "Zero", as the video's very description calls him, being bullied by his stronger, rude teammates, he is later given a green oni mask which grants him great, cartoony abilities he uses to win his team their victory and become the "Hero". In the end, he holds no grudge for the teammates who mistreated him.
- He advices his teammates to "stay down" while he takes care of the BLU Team.
- He uses creative methods to do away with each member of the enemy team, all while "Cuban Pete" plays in the background:
- He steals Sniper's razorback back shield, uses it to parry his attack and whack him over the head;
- He lures Heavy, the strongest BLU member, away from his teammates with a cardboard cutout of himself that the Heavy charges at. He then presses the trigger button to the bock attached to the cutout, blowing Heavy up.
- He decapitates Scout by throwing his fedora at him as if it were a boomerang, the brim acting as the blade;
- He dodges Demoman's grenades and then launches one back at him with a butt-thrust.
- He mocks Medic until he disconnects out of existence, even resurrecting Scout and, apparently, Demoman just to prove that "laughter really is the best medicine".
- He captures the point for Team RED, winning singlehandedly for them. The video ends with his teammates cheering him on.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- He's a mercenary who kills his enemies in brutal ways (that are too comedic to really be disturbing) and even mocks Medic out of existence.
Trivia[]
- He is an odd type of Magnificent Baddie, as he is the combination of two other characters who both happen to be Magnificent Baddies also.
- He has the slight possibility of being too harmless to be a Baddie, as two gags in the video have the Medics disconnect from the game, which could imply that the Mask is just a player killing the in-game avatar of other players, and his only crime would just be mild cyberbullying. However, these can be dismissed as just gags instead of true world-building.
- Even if it is just a game, the Mask in the game universe would still count.
