The Phantom of Vasquez Castle is the main antagonist of the Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! episode "Hassle in the Castle". His real identity is that of Bluestone the Great, an ex-magician wanted in 6 states who disguised himself as a ghost to find and steal the Vasquez treasure, supposedly buried on Haunted Isle.

What Makes Him Magnificent?

• Managed to escape the police for a long time despite being wanted in 6 states.
• He's an able illusionist who manages to make himself appear as a genuine ghost despite his rather simple disguise, making even Velma think that the castle is actually haunted at first.
• He's shown to be able to think quickly since, after the gang finds his magician props, he uses them to scare them away.
• He doesn't insult the gang after being caught and even politely explains them how he could make it look like as if he could walk through walls without trying to escape, showing not only to be genuinely affable and a graceful loser, but also proving his intelligence once more since he had to explain that one trick himself.
  • It's also implied that he untied himself off-screen just to give his explanation to the gang since he's first shown to be tied up and in the next shot he's untied and holding the rope.

What Makes Him A Baddie?

• He's a thief wanted in 6 states.
• As the Phantom, he scared others away to try and find the Vasquez treasure.
• Some of his tricks are quite dangerous, such as trapdoors and falling axes.
• Judging by how he acts as the Phantom, he seems to have a sadistic personality (although this could be just a part of the Phantom act to look scarier).
