The Splotch is a character of the Netflix cartoon, The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants based on the Captain Underpants books by Dav Pilkey. He was an alien robe who after being being contact with human DNA, ends up becoming alive. After becoming infused with Captain Underpants's DNA, he ends up taking his form and plots up a scheme for world domination.
He was voiced by Clancy Brown who also voiced Lex Luthor from the DCAU.
What makes him Magnificent?[]
- He has a very boisterous and hammy performance thanks to Clancy Brown that makes him very enjoyable to watch. He also gives The Splotch a cool voice and The Splotch also has a cool design that as a homage to Venom from Marvel Comics.
- He has many comedic moments that also increase his enjoyability such as him trying to say "robe belt", trying to fight Captain Underpants as puppets while getting interrupted by a robot, and him saying "Oh no! I'm going in butt-first!" when he gets sucked into a giant tornado ball.
- He is very affable as he likes the name George and Harold give him and apologizes to them on two separate occasions, one where he apologizes when the boy’s don’t understand who he is and one more when he didn’t hear George and Harold name the robe tornado he created.
- He is pretty good at drawing as shown when he explains to the boys who he is while using the pictures he drew.
- Although he was pretty much a wild animal in first first appearance, by the time he returns with human intelligence he is very intelligent and competent as seem below.
- He takes over the body of school janitor and secret agent, Toilette Ree, and uses his skills to create Bed of Robeses, a dryer sheet brand that can brainwash robes and people wearing them.
- He frames Captain Underpants for bank robbery and statue hijacking in order for him to be sent to prison so that way, he won't get in the way of his attempt at world domination. He also actually manages to convince people at first that Captain Underpants really committed those crimes.
- He manages to brainwash many people with the Bed of Robeses including Melvinborg, Melvin Sneedly, and the judge.
- Although he leaves dryer sheets at the scene of his crimes that leads George and Harold to his lair, he isn't even upset when it happens and has Melvin and Melvinborg to restrain the boys.
- When he fights with Captain Underpants, he shows he is an equal match to him and can keep up with him,
- He used Bed of Robeses to take control of every robe at Robe-O-Con and creates a giant robe tornado with them,
- He shows himself to be very determined to archive his goals. When Captain Underpants disrupts his robe tornado and sucks him into a giant robe ball, he gets back up on his feet by using his robes to restrain George and Harold. When Captain Underpants knocks him out of Mr. Ree's body with a Wedgie Whip, he still charges at Captain Underpants and is only stopped by the Soicety of Robes freezing him in place with a lazar gun - which he couldn't have perdicted.
- While his defeat is pretty embarrassing (he gets scared by a clown in his cell), it's pretty brief and he barley has any gags at his expense and other characters such as Jerry Citizen, Other Sophie, and Mr. Krupp have received much more and worse gags at their expense.
What makes him a Baddie?[]
- Attacked Jerry Citizen and Captain Underpants in his first appearance. While he was a wild animal then, he doesn't feel any remorse over them when he returns.
- Tried to take over the world with Bed of Robeses.
- Take over the body of Mr. Ree.
- Committed bank robbery and statue hijacking and framed Captain Underpants for it.
- Brainwashed Melvin, Melvinborg, and a judge with Bed of Robeses.
- Tied up George and Harold in his lair when they tried to stop him.
