Hasta la vista, baby.
~ The Terminator's most iconic quote.

The Terminator (also known as T-800), is the titular deuteragonist of the 1992 sci-fi action film Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

He's a reprogrammed T-800 unit, who was sent back to past to protect young John Connor from Skynet's advanced unit T-1000 in middle of 90's. While starting like his evil predecessor, this terminator was much more logical and was more anti-heroic. After switching his CPU from read-only to write/adaptive mode, Terminator truly began to change for good, becoming more humane and intelligent as times goes by.

He was portrayed by the famous Austrian actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who also portrayed the original villainous counterpart from the first movie as well as T-850 from Terminator 3: Rise of The Machines and heroic T-800 from both Genisys and Dark Fate.

What Makes Him Magnificent?[]

  • He's badass with some quotable lines who uses his fighting prowess and intelligence to achieve his goal and consistently protect John from harm.
  • One of his particularly noteworthy scenes of quick thinking is when he tricks the T-1000 (disguised as John's foster mother) into revealing himself, and he constantly finds ways to incapacitate and slow down the T-1000 before defeating him for good.
  • Fighting off the authorities while escaping from Cyberdyne System using sheer battle strategies is quite astounding too.
  • Just like his predecessor, he is constantly able to adapt to human behavior.
  • Tough as the T-1000 is as an opponent, the Terminator outsmarts him a good number of times, and he defeats him eventually, so there's no competition here that would be enough to disqualify.
  • He ultimately completes his mission to protect John Connor and safeguards humanity's survival.
  • In the end, he sacrifices himself so that his components wouldn't be used to create Skynet, and comforts John before doing so.

What Makes Him a Baddie?[]

  • While he does protect John Connor and later his mother, the Terminator has problems with morality and he's fairly violent and lethal to people that are in his way or disrupt his mission. Such as:
    • Assaulting a group bikers for their clothes.
    • Nearly killing two guys over a misunderstanding, only stopping after John ordered him not to kill them.
    • Shooting a security guard in his knees to infiltrate the asylum.
      • However, it should be noted that he was originally designed to kill humans and all this happened under his read-only mode. And after switching the CPU, he began to become more humane, heroic and understandable about morality.

Trivia[]

  • Both he and T-1000 are the only Magnificent Baddies from the Terminator franchise, which is quite ironic, considering they are enemies in Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
