The Zookeeper is a minor antagonist in the adult animated cartoon, Futurama, appearing as the main antagonist of the episode, Less then Hero. He is a zookeeper-themed supervillain with the ability to control animals. He robs the Museum of Natural History to steal the Quantum Gemerald. There, he fights Fry, Leela, and Bender, who have transformed into superheroes and formed a trio.
He was voiced by Billy West.
What makes him Magnificent?[]
- He has a charming British voice that combines well with his comedic moments such as him telling Fry he will never show the heroes his lair.
- When at the museum, he blows his whistle that causes the animals to riot, causing a distraction where he manages to steal the gem.
- When the heroes try to catch him upstairs, he throws the gem downstairs to distract the heroes, leading to his escape.
- When Leela's parents reveal her secret identity, his parrot picks up on it which he takes advantage of by kidnapping them and holding them hostage so the heroes will steal the diamond for them.
- When the heroes return the gem, he ends up fleeing away with the gem, ending up as a karma Houdini while succeeding in his goals.
- He also holds up his end of the deal by releasing Leela's parents, showing some honor.
- While he announces his own robbery and is even late to it, he makes up for it by coming out on top in the end.
- While he is undoubtedly a blatant parody of the stereotypical over-the-top hammy cartoonish villain, none of it hinders his magnificence, in fact it makes him even more entertaining.
What makes him a Baddie?[]
- Stole the Quantum Gemerald from The Museum of Natural History.
- Caused a riot by blowing a whistle, releasing several animals, attacking several people, and even an killing elephant eating a woman.
- Threatened to feed Leela's parents to robot piranhas if they didn't steal the gem for him.
